    Wolves 0-3 Burnley

Chris Wood has become just the second player to score a Premier League hat-trick for Burnley after Andre Gray versus Sunderland in December 2016.

Wood is the first player from New Zealand to score a Premier League hat-trick, with New Zealand now the 46th different nation to be represented by a hat-trick scorer in the competition, and the first new nation since Gabon (Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang).

    Scottsmith: Chris Wood... Absolute handful.

TheArsenalOG: First-half hat-trick for Chris Wood...This year keeps getting weirder.

  3. 'Wolves have been embarrasing'published at 12:51 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    Wolves 0-3 Burnley

    Alex Scott
Former England and Arsenal defender on BBC One

Wolves have been embarrasing. I forgot they are playing at home. It's like they've not got off the team bus. It's so easy for Chris Wood to get in for the first goal, why did Willy Boly leave that ball?

That was a sign of things to come. I don't think any Wolves player has made a sprint in this game.

  4. 'Wood looks hungry'published at 12:50 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

He gives them a focal point. He's confident, he look hungry.

Chris Wood has been terrific, but Wolves have been the makers of their own downfall.

What a first half of football for Chris Wood! He's been first to everything. He doesn't have to do a lot, it's a wonderful delivery.

Wolves have got to defend that a lot better. It's easy for a man of Chris Wood's quality, he can't believe his luck.

    HAT-TRICK!

This is simplicity itself. Dwight McNeil's corner is floated into the mixer and Wood rises, largely unchallenged to head in from close range.

Wood has his treble, he is into double figures for league goals for the season. What a half for him and Burnley.

Well, at least Wolves muster an effort on goal. Ruben Neves goes for a Ronaldo-style dipping free-kick that beats the wall but not Pope.

Lowton is booked now too for a foul on Traore that gives Wolves a free-kick in the Burnley half.

In the modern game a straight arm like that is generally a red card. It's much ado about nothing to be honest.

So, Tarkowski gets a yellow for trying to haul Podence up. I think.

There isn't a penalty, either, which the Wolves players seem to be calling for, for the defender's challenge on Podence.

No red either, for Traore's flailing arm.

    All very unnecessary.

After all that the corner is headed clear.

    Wolves 0-2 Burnley

Traore tries to get something going for Wolves and wins them a corner.

Oh, hang on, it's kicking off a bit. The Burnley players aren't happy and it leads to a load of pushing and shoving. It seems to be because Podence stayed down, the away players think he's faking it. Cork is also unhappy as he feels Traore swings an arm into his face.

    VAR are looking it all.

Wolves just haven't turned up. They haven't been able to lay a glove on this Burnley side.

I've not seen anything from Wolves.

More panic at the back for Wolves. Vydra collects a pass from Wood near halfway and bombs forward. He beats one man... two... and is just beaten to the ball before he can shoot from an angle by Rui Patricio.

If it keeps on like this, a third Burnley goal is not far away.

Wood is one goal away now from hitting double figures in four Premier League seasons running.

He's no slouch either. Works hard for his side.

Ross: Man Utd could do a lot worse than Chris Wood as a replacement for Cavani. Always thought he was the sort of player Ferguson would have signed for United.

SoccerLjung: Wolves giving a classic example of a team wearing flip-flops as they yawn their way through a meaningless end of season game.

    Wolves 0-2 Burnley

Can't help but feel Wolves' display is one of the byproducts of no fans in stadiums. Would a full Molineux be tolerating such a seeming lack of effort from the players? Even if it's only a small percentage dip, an unconscious one, it makes a difference.

    Could so easily be 3-0.

Vydra wins the ball back high and charges into the middle to meet a cross from Taylor. He is completely unmarked but he can't quite keep his effort down with his outstretched boot, sending it over the bar.

Wolves are all over the shop.
