We're only minutes away from today's other early kick-off in the EFL.

It comes in League One at Fratton Park, where Portsmouth host Bristol Rovers.

While Pompey need the points to keep their play-off push going, it is literally win or bust for Rovers.

Only victory keeps alive their wafer-thin hopes of avoiding the drop - but even then just a point for Wigan later against Burton will send Joey Barton's side down.

    Bournemouth 0-0 Brentford

Mads Roerslev does a great job to slide in and deny Arnaut Danjuma after Philip Billing had slotted Junior Stanislas in behind the Brentford defence.

    Bournemouth 0-0 Brentford

Intelligent punt for David Raya sets Tariqe Fosu away down the left but he is crowded out and forced back by the Bournemouth defence.

Then Brentford give the ball away.

Bournemouth look to release Philip Billing just outside the Bees box but he just can't draw the ball in. Dangerous lurking though, from the Dane.

    Bournemouth 0-0 Brentford

Just wondering if the relentless opening quarter of an hour has taken its toll after a whirlwind start, as it's just cooled down slightly.

Positive signs we'll see a goal. Few more tasty tackles going in. Jefferson Lerma gets hacked down by Ivan Toney in midfield.

    Bournemouth 0-0 Brentford

Really open and exciting game this. No pensive football. Just attacking and positivity.

Mathias Jensen almost sets Ivan Toney away for the visitors but he made his run too early and the flag goes up for offside.

Steve Cook clears off the lineImage source, Rex Features

Steve Cook, Bournemouth skipper, clears off the line!

Brentford got the ball in from Mads Roerslev and Marcus Forss nods it down for Sergi Canos to slip towards goal, but Cook stabbed it away.

    Bournemouth 0-0 Brentford

Beautiful move by Bournemouth but Junior Stanislas makes a real hash of the finish after being touched through by Dominic Solanke.

It was a superb pass into the left channel by Jack Wilshere that Solanke just helped in field to set Stanislas one-on-one, but he slipped on shooting and clipped it harmlessly wide.

    Really golden chance that.

    Bournemouth 0-0 Brentford

Tariqe Fosu picks the ball up in midfield for Brentford and drives across field to the left side where he finds Bees team-mate Sergi Canos.

Canos cuts inside and blazes a shot high over the top.

It's been a flying start here, no early afternoon slump from these two.

  9. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Bournemouth 0-0 Brentford

Really sloppy from Tariqe Fosu who blind passes back to the Brentford keeper David Raya in midfield and the sniping Dom Solanke spots a chance to pounce.

The ball just carries through to Raya to hoof away.

Then a Bees free-kick sails to the Cherries' back post where the tall Ethan Pinnock is lurking but the connection is not a clean one and it's skewed over the bar.

Brentford get their chance. Bournemouth try to clear in their own area as Tariq Fosu tries to slide a pass in but the clearance whacks off Diego Rico and Ivan Toney has a glimmer of an opportunity before Steve Cook comes in to block.

There's a bit more pressure on the Bournemouth goal but the visitors can't force their way in.

    Bournemouth 0-0 Brentford

Bournemouth almost ahead in the first 20 seconds!

Dominic Solanke turns a loose ball round the corner and gallops away from a static Brentford defender - he's away.

As he hits the box he takes a heavy touch and David Raya can smother.

Really poor touch but lively initially.

  12. KICK-OFFpublished at 0 mins

    Bournemouth 0-0 Brentford

Right then. Two sides who love to play football on the deck.

Breezy but sunny down in Boscombe, turf looks good.

    John Brooks is the referee.

We're up and running. Bournemouth kick us off.

It is a measure of the progress made by Brentford that being involved in the Championship play-offs sort of feels like a missed opportunity.

Last season's beaten play-off finalists lost twin-attacking powerhouses in Said Benrahma and Ollie Watkins, but have shrugged off those losses with the recruitment of Ivan Toney and the likes of Marcus Forss stepping up.

They remain tough to beat, do Thomas Frank's Bees, as they've lost just one of the past 11.

However, six draws in seven have just seen them tumble away from the top two and the play-offs look likely again. Most Bees fans would say it's been another good season and with Toney's 29 goals, they have a real goal-threat for the big finish to come.

Credit to Jonathan Woodgate, he's getting some real success from Bournemouth at the right time of the season.

Seven wins, averaging three goals a game in that time and conceding just five have rocketed them up the table and put them well in the frame for a play-off spot.

Netherlands international Arnaut Danjuma has been pivotal, weighing in with crucial goals and bringing skill and creativity, while Dominic Solanke is also in form with four in six.

Win today, and they take a big step towards a home second leg in the play-offs, and the hope of an immediate Premier League return.

Four changes for Bournemouth, as Adam Smith, Diego Rico, Jack Wilshere and Junior Stanislas come into the starting XI for Jack Stacey, Lloyd Kelly, Ben Pearson and Junior Stanislas.

Just the one switch for Brentford, with Spanish forward Sergi Canos replacing Bryan Mbeumo in Thomas Frank's side to kick-off.

Bournemouth: Begovic, Smith, Cook, Carter-Vickers, Rico, Billing, Wilshere, Lerma, Danjuma, Stanislas, Solanke

Subs: Travers, Stacey, Mepham, Kilkenny, Pearson, Anthony Riquelme, Brooks, Surridge

Brentford: Raya, Jansson, Norgaard, Pinnock, Roerslev, Janelt, Jensen, Fosu, Canos, Forss, Toney

Subs: Daniels, Goode, Emiliano, Mbeumo, Ghoddos, Sorensen, Stevens, Gordon, Bidstrup

We've got a full EFL programme for you today throughout the day, but first up, is Bournemouth v Brentford. A real Championship six-pointer.

It'll take a monumental Watford implosion to deny them the second automatic promotion spot behind Norwich, so this one is all about finishing strong and securing home advantage in the second leg of the play-offs.

Jonathan Woodgate has more than steadied the ship at the Vitality Stadium and the Cherries are tough to beat with just one defeat in 12. More impressively, they've won the past seven.

Brentford looked for long periods of this season as though they were one of the front runners for the automatic places but a run of six draws in seven has seen those hopes wilt.

    Three rounds to go.

Yes, some teams are still wrapping up their games in hand in midweeks but from here until the final day, for many, it's a case of living for the weekend.

Fates at both ends of the tables throughout the English Football League can be decided, many dependent on results elsewhere as permutations stack up.

It's a time for tension, bitten fingernails, pacing up and down the living room, shouting at the telly or radio and gluing eyes to latest scores on your phone.

And, we'll be right there with you. Every Championship goal, and the best of Leagues One and Two to boot.
