    FT: Bayern Munich 2-1 Chelsea

There's no doubt that Chelsea missed the experience and leadership of Magdalena Eriksson in defence, while Pernille Harder, Fran Kirby and Sam Kerr were kept reasonably quiet by the Bayern defence.

With a week off now though, they'll be confident of being able to overturn the deficit at home in the second leg.

A second-half strike from Hanna Glas means Chelsea must win their semi-final second leg at Kingsmeadow next Sunday to have any chance of reaching their first ever Champions League final.

Sydney Lohmann put Bayern ahead after Chelsea keeper Ann-Katrin Berger failed to deal with a cross but Emma Hayes' side have a crucial away goal thanks to Melanie Leupolz's fortuitous header.

This tie is very much in the balance going into the second leg.

Ji So-yun's free-kick is too close to Bayern keeper Laura Benkarth, who claims it with ease.

    But Chelsea are attacking again!

Beth England uses her strength to win Chelsea a useful free-kick.

I imagine this will be put into the Bayern box...

Niamh Charles puts in a nice cross for Chelsea but Laura Benkarth comes to catch the ball confidently.

    Bayern Munich 2-1 Chelsea

Chelsea throw players forward but it's a poor, tired pass from Sam Kerr which halts their momentum.

Bayern have defended admirably and Emma Hayes' side have looked a bit frustrated at times.

A swift counter attack from Bayern almost earns them a third goal, but Linda Dallmann strikes just wide of the far post.

Chelsea are continuing to plug away as we enter the final minutes.

Sam Kerr has a go from the corner of the Bayern box but her attempt is chased down.

She had back-up from Chelsea team-mates but Kerr can't be blamed for going alone there.

You can hear Emma Hayes coaching her Chelsea side through the game but they've lost some of their momentum in the past few minutes.

Bayern are holding the ball well and posing a threat of their own.

    Bayern Munich 2-1 Chelsea

Chelsea have to balance the risk of going all out for an equaliser, while also ensuring they don't concede a third goal.

A 2-1 away defeat wouldn't be the end of the world going into the second leg, but a 3-1 deficit would be tricky to overturn.

Bayern aim to take the sting out of things with a double change.

Linda Dallman comes on for the impressive Lineth Beerensteyn, while Carina Wenninger replaces Simone Laudehr.

There was no lack of power on that Beth England header.

She gets on the end of Millie Bright's cross and the ball flies over the bar.

Chelsea are playing as well as they've done all game.

Ji So-yun thunders one against the underside of the bar for Chelsea from oustide the box!

The Bayern keeper was beaten there and the ball rebounded out to Beth England, who couldn't generate enough power on her header.

Chelsea are probing and Bayern are playing a dangerous game by sitting deep.

Beth England is next on for Chelsea as Pernille Harder makes way.

Harder, remember, picked up that booking in the first half, which probably explains why she's been taken off.

A Chelsea corner is only cleared as far as skipper Millie Bright, who lashes an effort wide from the edge of the box.

  18. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 66 mins

    Bayern Munich 2-1 Chelsea

    Here's the first Chelsea change.

The versatile Niamh Charles comes on in place of Guro Reiten and will play on the right of midfield.

    Bayern Munich 2-1 Chelsea

Bayern are ahead and are able to bring on their top scorer Lea Schuller, who has 23 goals in 26 games this season, in place of Klara Buhl.

    Not a bad replacement.

Emma Hayes is yet to turn to her bench but can call on the likes of Erin Cuthbert and Beth England.

    Bayern Munich 2-1 Chelsea

There's still no need to panic for Chelsea.

They've reacted to falling behind once and have plenty of time to do so again.

But even if things stay as they are, their away goal means a 1-0 victory back at Kingsmeadow in the second leg next Sunday would be enough to see them through to the final.
