  1. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 61 mins

    West Ham 0-1 Everton

    West Ham should be level.

Pablo Fornals delivers a fine pass into the path of Vladimir Coufal who drills it first time beyond Pickford and against the post.

It rebounds out and Jarrod Bowen only needs to tuck it over the line but he attempts to square instead and Pickford gathers.

Everton are soaking up the pressure. Tom Davies and Allan are working really hard and closing down together.

When West Ham close down they are doing it in blocks, making it easier for Everton to go around and through them.

  3. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 58 mins

    West Ham 0-1 Everton

Another enforced change. Aaron Cresswell has taken a heavy knock and the Hammers skipper cannot continue. Ryan Fredericks comes on.

  4. Postpublished at 56 mins

Agree. Pickford has been good lately but he has had one of the quietest shifts of his season so far.

Gareth Southgate has always said that Jordan Pickford has never made any mistakes playing for England, the questions were always over his club form where he made some high-profile mistakes. However, the last two months he has been very, very good.

  6. Postpublished at 55 mins

    West Ham 0-1 Everton

Pablo Fornals wins a corner after his attempt is deflected behind but West Ham play it short and it is eventually cleared. Yerry Mina and Michael Keane are doing a fine job in defence.

    West Ham 0-1 Everton

No sign of panic creeping in. Crisp, neat passing from West Ham but they have still to test Jordan Pickford.

  8. Postpublished at 51 mins

    West Ham 0-1 Everton

Oh dear. West Ham are fortunate to win a free-kick midway inside Everton's half and it requires a good delivery into the box. Lingard's attempt fails to clear the first man.

  9. Postpublished at 49 mins

    West Ham 0-1 Everton

Everton break and Dominic Calvert-Lewin is screaming for a cross from Lucas Digne but it's a poor delivery. A scrappy start to the half.

    West Ham 0-1 Everton

    Mark Schwarzer
Former Middlesbrough & Fulham keeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

The game got stretched at times in the first half and that's when West Ham looked a little bit vulnerable with the two centre-backs exposed by the pace of Calvert-Lewin.

So if they want to get back in the game they need to narrow it up a bit, play more on the front foot and be a bit more clinical.

  11. Postpublished at 47 mins

    West Ham 0-1 Everton

Positive from West Ham but they are being frustrated by the blue wall in front of them. Good covering from Ben Godfrey to cut out another attack.

  12. KICK-OFFpublished at 45 mins

    West Ham 0-1 Everton

Here we go then. A huge half coming up.

David Moyes came out of the tunnel deep in discussion with Michail Antonio.

    Off we go.

  13. 'Dawson will have regrets'published at 17:32 British Summer Time 9 May 2021

    HT: West Ham 0-1 Everton

    Mark Schwarzer
Former Middlesbrough & Fulham keeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

Craig Dawson will look back at the goal and have regrets, he just wasn't tight enough.

It was just a straight ball from Ben Godfrey and Calvert-Lewin didn't have to touch it until he was in the box.

It's a pretty even game but the difference is that Everton have had the two clear cut chances.

Andy: Baffled at the utter lack of desire from West Ham. A real chance for us to finish in the top four, and the team looks disinterested.

  15. 'No party on the blue side tonight'published at 17:29 British Summer Time 9 May 2021

FT: Aston Villa 1-3 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, speaking to BBC Sport: "A great result and it takes a little bit of pressure away from having to get results because the next two are against very good teams. I thought we did well first half, we started brightly, they scored a good goal but we came back last 10-15 minutes and I felt confident we would create chances, it was jut about taking them and we did that today."

On coming from behind again to win: “It shows character, resilience, belief, fitness. It is difficult at times, especially when you travel back and don’t get home until 5am Friday and then travel here. It is a long season and I am delighted for everyone."

On Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani: "It is not bad having Edinson to come on for Mason after Mason has done what he has. Mason is exceptional in and around the box. Right foot, left foot he is even learning heading. He is getting assists too and what a guy to learn from, Edinson has done it all and hopefully he will keep doing it for us."

“That would be the biggest upset in football history but at least we don’t travel back to a party on the blue side tonight."

  16. 'The game turned on the penalty decision'published at 17:27 British Summer Time 9 May 2021

FT: Aston Villa 1-3 Man Utd

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith, speaking to BBC Sport: "I didn't think we started the game particularly well. We upped it and then I thought we were good first half, we high pressed well and got a good goal. We were quite comfortable at 1-0 at half time. I think the game turns on the penalty decision.

"There was a touch but was it enough to go down? I watched Man City last night and Sterling had four touches in his back and doesn't get a penalty and today it is a penalty. This is with Stockley Park watching in slow motion so you tell me what is happening because I don't think the football world actually understands it anymore.

"He doesn't need to try and poke the ball through his legs, it is the giving of the penalty, is it enough for the player go down? My player gets sent off at the end where he doesn't know if there was contact or not. I've watched it slowed down three or four times and I don't know. He [Ollie Watkins] said there was slight contact, he felt he would get hurt if he continued past him.

"You can't appeal it and that is another one with the law."

  17. 'We'll delay title as long as we can'published at 17:25 British Summer Time 9 May 2021

FT: Aston Villa 1-3 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, speaking on Sky Sports: "Delighted, always going to be difficult after you have been in Europe and didn't get back until half 4/5am on Friday. Great reaction, even though I felt we were the better team in the first half.

"I can't blame them, the advantage of being fresh is quite high and we could have scored once or twice, they score from nothing, good goal, but I am pleased with everyone."

On the penalty: "He goes through Paul Pogba from the back and Paul is very good at shielding the ball, Bruno got back to his jump."

On Mason Greenwood: "He is top. I was thinking curl it far post, but he goes near - he has all the finishes, he worked really hard today and showed what he can do.

"Massive result because it takes a little bit of the pressure away and we can go into the next one confident, we know it'll be a physical test but we have to make the most of it. You just have to see how everyone is tomorrow and Tuesday morning."

On delaying City winning the title: "That's a good thing, that's the best thing, at least we don't drive into a blue army tonight, we'll try to delay it as long as we can."

It's all falling into place for Liverpool to get in the top four. They might have to beat Man Utd though.
