I think there's also a bit of an interesting subplot to the rest of the season which is who goes the Euros as the last England striker? DCL obviously played for us earlier in the season but has he done enough in the last few months to warrant the jersey over Bamford? He could definitely do with a few goals over the next few games - as could Everton mind.

    That's more like it.

A lovely deep cross by Vladimir Coufal causes problems in the Everton defence. Pickford is off his line but the danger is eventually cleared.

Two good sides still feeling their way into this. Fair to say it's been sedate start.

First serious cross by West Ham and it's from the boot of Michail Antonio. Lingard is lurking inside the box but it doesn't reach him.

Everton have started on the front and are really trying to push West Ham back.

As soon as a West Ham player looks up they see a blue shirt right in front of them.

    West Ham 0-0 Everton

Michail Antonio attempts to spin past Yerry Mina but it rolls out for a goal kick. Little from Jesse Lingard so far. How many times has we said that and he's ended up making a vital contribution?

    Mark Schwarzer

Everton had Keane, Mina and Godfrey right on Fabianski's toes and the delivery from both sides made it really hard for the goalkeeper to come out and clear.

    West Ham 0-0 Everton

Dominic Calvert-Lewin heads the next one tamely wide. It's been a good start by Everton. They've started on the front foot. Not much from West Ham in terms of attacking threat.

It leads to the first corner. It's swept in by Sigurdsson but Dawson and then Tomas Soucek get vital touches to put it out for another corner.

Industrial headed clearance by Craig Dawson before Allan wins Everton a free-kick midway inside the Hammers half. Plenty of pushing and shoving going on as Gylfi Sigurdsson waits to deliver the set-piece.

    West Ham 0-0 Everton

A huge clearance by Jordan Pickford almost sparks an early attack while Michail Antonio has had an early touch just outside the box. Cagey start by both teams.

Judorick: West Ham have four cup finals. 12 points leaves them on 70 points. That would be enough for CL football. I hope they do it! Been more fun following their season than the misery of being a Gooner.

Here they come. Carlo Ancelotti is shooing away bubbles as he makes his way to the dugout. Imagine the roar if there was a crowd. Instead the players emerge to silence.

West Ham were very impressive when they beat Burnley last weekend. I thought they were tailing off a bit after losing their previous two games, but they looked really strong at Turf Moor.

Everton are much better on the road than they are at home but I think they are in for a difficult day. The Hammers beat them at Goodison Park in January and I am expecting them to do the same at London Stadium.

    Prediction: 2-0

FT: Aston Villa 1-3 Man Utd

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith, speaking to Sky Sports: "The first five minutes we didn't start very well but then played really well in the first half, high-pressed them and got a deserved goal. The penalty decision affected us more than it did them."

On United's penalty: "I don't think anybody knows, everybody is confused how Raheem Sterling can go through and have four or five touches on him last night and not get a penalty, then one touch here and it is a penalty - it looked a pathetic decision to me, but he goes down, similar to Old Trafford and last season here.

"Ollie Watkins has got sent off for a second yellow, there is no way the referee can tell me he is convinced he hasn't been touched. I just don't understand the decision-making of the officials and more importantly at Stockley Park.

"It looks like now he has to get hurt to win the penalty - is it enough contact for a penalty, no."

Moyes, of course, secured a top four finish while in charge of Everton in 2005 - 12 months after finishing 17th. Would getting West Ham into the Champions League be a better achievement?
