  4. 'We can improve in both boxes'published at 22:30 British Summer Time 15 May 2021

    Brighton 1-1 West Ham

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Graham Potter, speaking to BBC Sport: "It's always a bit disappointing when you're 1-0 up with not long to go [and don't win]. Over the course of the game a draw is a fair result. I wouldn’t say we deserved more. West Ham were better than us in first half. We were better in the second half [than in the first].

"West Ham have a lot of good attacking players who can attack in different ways. They’re challengeing for Europe for a reason. Our boys stuck at it and did well. It’s a good point in the end.

"You think you can hold on but we didn’t manage that situation well and they scored. That’s been a fault of ours over the season - too many winning positions dropped - and that’s something to improve.

"It’s easy to say turn draws into wins but that’s the challenge.

"As a team we can do a lot of things better. Sometimes we’re punished for not much and sometimes we're not clinical. We can improve in both boxes."

On fans next week: Fantastic. In a way you get used to it [empty grounds] because it’s been so long. It’ll be quite strange and something we have to adapt to. But it’s a positive thing and we're excited. We saw how much the crowd changed the emotions of the FA Cup final."

    Brighton 1-1 West Gam

    West Ham United

West Ham boss David Moyes: "We played well enough to take more than a point. We'll take it, but we wanted three.

"We didn't need a reaction because we played really well for long periods of the game. We lacked maybe the final pass and maybe the final bit of quality.

"Very pleased to get him back because we have missed him. Any good team would miss Declan Rice.

"We are still in there. With two games to play we are still in with a chance of European football which is good. We'd have liked it to have been a bit easier but we are still in there."

  6. 'We're in a good shout with two games to go'published at 22:26 British Summer Time 15 May 2021

    Brighton 1-1 West Ham

    West Ham United

West Ham boss David Moyes to Sky Sports: "I'm a bit disappointed we didn't take more but when you go 1-0 down with six minutes left, it's good to get a draw.

"I thought we played really well. In the final third it didn't quite work.

"We brought Said Benrahma to get us goals and assists. It was good he got one tonight.

"I thought he [Declan Rice] did OK. Just OK for me because I know the standard he's got and what a good player he is."

On their Champions League hopes: "I thought our chances had gone [on Sunday]. We're aware of that. We're trying to get a place in European football if we can. We're still in a good place for that. It's a great thing to say we're in a good shout with two games to go.

"I said on Sunday when we lost to Everton we'd lost the opportunity [for top four].

    "I'm a winner. I want to win.

  7. 'Boys gave everything'published at 22:17 British Summer Time 15 May 2021

    Brighton 1-1 West Ham

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Graham Potter, speaking to Sky Sports: "Good game, competitive game. Disappointing because we scored late and conceded but overall can't be disappointed with a draw. Boys gave everything, tough game.

"Second half we were better, probably the better side in the second half. Good from the players, they responded, playing against a team that is in a good moment.

"Credit to David Moyes and West Ham, they have had a good season and are fighting to be in Europe. We take a point."

Are West Ham an example for Brighton that they can be like: "In some ways. They have probably invested a lot over a few windows. They have always had a talented squad. We want to get more points, that is where we are at. Our performances have been good but it is about results.

"We are not far away but we are aware we have to improve. We will reflect, we will take a break and then analyse what we have to do to get better."

"We created many chances and you need to score. We started losing [recently] and it’s hard to change to winning games.

"When I came here [last season] I immediately thought of relegation but we won this fight and this season we said we wanted to play higher and it is still alive."

    Brighton 1-1 West Ham

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton striker Danny Welbeck, speaking to Sky Sports:"It feels like two points dropped. We just switched off and it is not good enough, we need to be better in these situations and as a group improve on that to get to the next level.

"I am pleased with the goal. With injuries and that sort of stuff I would have hit that mark [50 Premier League goals] a bit earlier. There is so much more to come."

On survival being confirmed by Fulham loss: "It is kind of disappointing, we would have liked to have done it ourselves. With the squad we have we shouldn't be thinking of relegation, we should be looking further up the table.

"As a group we have to gather together, analyse the games and the performances. I think there is a lot more we can do."

    Brighton 1-1 West Ham

    West Ham United

West Ham midfielder Declan Rice to Sky Sports on whether this is the end of their Champions League dream: "Yeah... It's obviously horrible because we had the Champions League in our sights. We can't be relying on other teams to lose. We have to go out and win. We've drawn too many and lost a few.

"To challenge you have to win the games we've lost.

"This season has been outstanding. We've given everything. We learned to win ugly this year. It's been a rollercoaster. That was a bite in the teeth tonight but we can still finish on a high.

"Every West Ham fan I speak to is buzzing with how this season has gone. So am I.

"It's still a pont. I thought we dominated the game and missed so many chances. I think a draw is a fair result."
