Dundee United manager Micky Mellon is irked with Hibs' second goal, scored by an offside Christian Doidge.

"A really poor decision goes against us to go 2-0 down when we were looking to make the game nervy," he tells Sportsound.

"Everybody knows it was offside. Hibs probably deserved over the course of the game to go through, but those big moments you have to get right."

Hibernian head coach Jack Ross tells Sportsound: "Somebody might try to stick a Hibs badge on the cardigan.

"Really delighted for the players and staff. They've been outstanding for me all season. I believed the players would prove they were good today.

"I would've taken any sort of win but I thought I got a win that was fitting of the levels this season.

"It's such a happy changing room. They know they've got to come back here in two weeks' time and try and do the same again. For the next couple of hours at least, it's just a moment to savour.

"It's a brilliant, exciting end to the season for us."

So, Hibs are into the Scottish Cup final on 22 May.

Who they face will be decided tomorrow when St Mirren and St Johnstone go head to head in the second semi-final at Hampden.

Hibernian striker Christian Doidge tells Sportsound: "Coming into this one, we really wanted to win it. To get the win and into the final is amazing.

"We can't wait for the final now. We played really well. We rode our luck a few times but it's about time that it went in our favour.

"I've had a bit of bad luck in front of goal so it was about time it turned around."

Hibernian striker Kevin Nisbet tells Sportsound: "Relief and delighted, obviously. It's the first time in my career for a final.

"I'm delighted for the club. We've lost a lot of semi-finals.

"Jackson Irvine's ball doesn't make me break my stride and a took a touch and put it through his legs so delighted.

"We've got a massive game Wednesday to secure third. It's a very exciting few weeks. Hopefully we can go win it and I can get a Scotland call-up.

"We'll take anybody in the final."

Hibs are deservedly through to the Scottish Cup final where they will face either St Mirren or St Johnstone.

Kevin Nisbet's neat first-half finish was added to after the break by Christian Doidge.

United will rightly feel aggrieved Doidge's strike wasn't ruled offside, but the truth is Micky Mellon's men didn't offer enough throughout.

A last-gasp burst from United as Lawrence Shankland gets two bites of the cherry in the Hibs box but can't beat Matt Macey.

United are awfully stretched at the back and Jamie Murphy tries to rub salt in their wounds, but Calum Butcher gets a good block on the near-post drive.

United are battling to the bitter end, but their race looks run.

We're into five minutes of injury time. Not sure where the referee got that from.

After a half-hearted penalty appeal from United striker Marc McNulty, Hibs race upfield and nearly add a third goal.

Christian Doidge's shot is blocked but Jamie Murphy nips in to send a curling drive arcing towards the top corner until Mehmet Deniz claws the ball behind.

Opening scorer Kevin Nisbet makes way for Jamie Murphy to provide fresh legs in the closing stages.

Nisbet's performance will have done no harm to his chances of making the Scotland squad for the Euros.

Into the final 10 minutes and Hibs looked to have weathered the United storm following the second goal.

Having lost five straight semi-finals in knockout competitions since their 2016 Scottish Cup success, it would take some collapse to cost the Leith men now.

Martin Boyle at his wriggly, menacing best now.

This time he jinks down the right flank past Jamie Robson, who responds by hauling the Hibs winger to the ground and earning a booking.

A superb slaloming run by Martin Boyle takes him past a host of United players before Ryan Edwards brings him down right on the 18-yard line.

Kevin Nisbet sizes up the free-kick and sends it straight down the middle with plenty of power, forcing Deniz Mehmet to parry the ball over.

Hero defending from Liam Smith as Hibs break up the other end and Martin Boyle is clean through until the full-back gets a toe on the ball with a last-ditch tackle.
