    Dundee United 0-0 Hibernian

Hibs' Melker Hallberg pounces on a loose ball on the edge of the box and puts plenty behind his shot which flies a yard or two wide.

Moments later, United's Calum Butcher earns the game's first booking for a studs-up challenge on Martin Boyle.

That was on for a strike. The two centre-backs were poor in defending the situation, they just retreated, retreated, retreated. Your talking 19 yards from goal - that's a strike for goal

  3. Postpublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 8 May 2021

    Dundee Utd 0-0 Hibernian

Chance for United as Lawrence Shankland breaks through the middle and opts to play in Ian Harkes rather than shooting himself.

Harkes is clean through in the right-hand channell but his first touch is dreadful and Hibs keeper Matt Macey gratefully gathers.

  4. Postpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 8 May 2021

    Dundee Utd 0-0 Hibernian

A couple of early corners for Hibs as Mark Reynolds diverts a Kevin Nisbet cross behind after United sloppily give away possession.

Josh Doig then tries a pop from distance but the Hibs full-back's shot sails well wide.

    Away we go.

Dundee United, wearing the traditional tangerine tops, get the game under way against a Hibs side sporting their green and white home kit.

    Bring on the goals, please.

United are not just facing three in-form Hibs forwards, but three different types. It's going to be tough day for United if Doidge, Boyle & Nisbet are on their game.

United have comfortably stayed in the league, but the supporters will be looking for top six next season and the inconsistency needs to be sorted out. If they reach the cup final, it will have been a very good season.

  17. Logan the unlikely hero in 2016published at 15:44 British Summer Time 8 May 2021

    Dundee Utd v Hibernian (16:00)

Hibs fans have blissful memories of the previous Scottish Cup semi-final showdown with United five years ago.

It took penalties to separate the sides after a goalless draw before the Leith men went on to lift the trophy for the third time - ending a 114-year wait - with an epic win over Rangers.

Things could have been very different though had it not been for unlikely superhero Conrad Logan, whose debut in the semi-final has gone down in Hibs folklore.

The Irishman played the game of his life - in his first outing for 16 months - to keep his team in the tie, and you can hear from the big man here.

  18. Ross senses 'calmness' from Hibspublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 8 May 2021

    Hibernian v Dundee Utd (16:00)

Hibernian head coach Jack Ross tells Sportsound: "We've done well in the main this season. Micky's team were terrific in the quarter-final.

"We understand that we need to go two steps further, not just one step further. We remember the soreness [of semi-final defeats] and we want to make sure we come out on that polar opposite feeling.

"They've got my absolute trust. They've been brilliant for me all season. This week I've sensed a real calmness."

  19. Mellon urges United to show their bestpublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 8 May 2021

    Dundee United v Hibernian (16:00)

Dundee United manager Micky Mellon tells Sportsound: "Today, it would be great if we could go out there and perform like [we did against Aberdeen] and do the asks of the game as confidently as we did then.

"Two teams full of attacking intent so it should be a good game.

"I'm solely here to make sure that they go out there and give the best of themselves. If I was a player out there today, I wouldn't write any of them off."

  20. Semi-final hoodoo for Hibs?published at 15:33 British Summer Time 8 May 2021

    Dundee Utd v Hibernian (16:00)

Today is Hibs' sixth domestic cup semi-final since their 2016 Hampden glory day - and they have lost the lot.

Three of those were League Cup ties, including this season's 3-0 loss to St Johnstone.

That was part of a run that has seen the Easter Road men reach four consecutive semi-finals, with the 2-1 defeat to Hearts in last season's Scottish Cup last four particularly painful.

Head coach Jack Ross aims to make it third time lucky after presiding over that derby loss and the collapse against St Johnstone.
