He used an arm. You can see Kasper Schmeichel clearly claiming with the referee. It's 100% over the line but nothing of Werner hits the ball bar his arm.

Have to agree with the views on that non-penalty decision.

Just how was it not? And why did VAR not say anything to Mike Dean?

    Baffling.

I saw it live, I saw it in slowmo, I saw it in slowmo again. How on earth is that not a penalty?!

    Sam, Milton Keynes

Someone will need to explain to me how that isn't a penalty. Or at least how it doesn't warrant another look. Yet another example of inconsistent application of VAR, which is about the only consistent thing about it.

Richard: I am stunned. How is that not a clear and obvious error. This is beyond infuriating to see Var to chalk of Chillwells goal because he is a mm offside but a blatant penalty not given. Not even asking the referee to review. VAR is a waste of time

Ryan: Glad that wasn't a penalty. Werner made no attempt to play the ball, but hoped he could get a penalty if he stuck his leg in the way, impeding Tielemans. Good to see officials aren't being conned by this anymore

  16. CLOSE!published at 20:43 British Summer Time 18 May 2021

Mason Mount, a shoo-in England starter at the Euros?

The midfielder really is an excellent player, expertly taking the ball down in the box and thumping a flat effort at goal which Kasper Schmeichel tips over the bar.

Very late. It did look offside I have to say. The linesman wasn't sure I think. I think Werner is about a yard offside. It was brilliant play from Mason Mount and it was a really cool finish into the corner from Werner but it's offside..
