  4. Celtic aim to give Brown 'the send off he deserves'published at 18:07

    Celtic v St Johnstone (18:30)

Speaking to BBC Sportsound interim Celtic manager John Kennedy: "Hopefully we win the game and send him [Scott Brown] off with a good result. Scott isn't an emotional guy but with the displays and the fans as we came in on the bus it may sink in.

"I think he'll be hiding some of his emotions, he's that type of guy, it's not about him. As a squad we want to make sure his final memory is a good one. He deserves that for what he's given to the club."

On starting 18-year-old Adam Montgomery, Kennedy adds:

"It's exciting, I've been there as a young player myself and sometimes you just need that opportunity to play. He's trained with us for a number of weeks so hopefully he can impress tonight.

"We know it's going to be tough, Callum [Davidson] has done a terrific job. Getting into the top six, already one trophy and getting to another final so we know it will be a tough game."

  5. 'Stage set for intriguing Pittodrie encounter'published at 18:05

    Aberdeen v Hibernian (19.45)

    Tyrone Smith
    BBC Scotland at Pittodrie

At the start of the season, Aberdeen and Hibs were expected to be battling it out behind Rangers and Celtic in the race for third place.

And that has indeed transpired, the only surprise being that the Dons are still involved in that battle given the flaky form they have produced during the second half of the campaign.

So the stage is set for an intriguing final encounter of the season between the sides at Pittodrie tonight.

With just two rounds of fixtures remaining, Hibs very much hold the upper hand, they have a three-point cushion over their north east opponents, as well as a vastly superior goal difference.

A point in the Granite City would all but seal deal for the capital club.

Aberdeen’s task is pretty clear: put simply, they need to win.

  6. KICK-OFFpublished at 18:00

Two of tonight's six Premiership matches get under way - at Tannadice and the Tony Macaroni Arena - with the build-up continuing ahead of the other top flight games.

  7. 'We've kept our foot to the floor' - Alexanderpublished at 17:56

    Dundee United v Motherwell (18:00)

"Since the Kilmarnock game we’ve changed the team every game with a couple of boys, and we knew we would do it again tonight, that is a part to play in it," Motherwell manager Graham Alexander said of the change he made in defence.

"Declan [Gallagher] is fit to play, I just felt tonight Tyler [Magloire] deserved to come into the team. I explained to Declan, and he is disappointed not to play but understands my reasons.

"With Allan [Campbell], we had another conversation recently about offering him a new contract but we couldn’t offer him the things he wanted. That was a step up in level that he wanted – I could see that as an ex-player myself. He goes with our best wishes.

"We have guaranteed our Premiership status, and we can’t get higher in the table, but we still want to win every game, we want to have that mentality. We’ve kept our foot to the floor and that’s important."

  8. Chance for Utd youngsters to shinepublished at 17:54

    Dundee United v Motherwell (18:00)

“The manager wants to have a look at one or two before the end of the season," says Dundee United assistant manager Stephen Frail of the eight changes to the side.

"You’ve got young Kerr Smith who just turned 16 at the turn of the year, he’s been with the squad in terms of his training all season, an exciting centre-back who can step in and play, he’s quick, aggressive when he defends.

"Young Archie Meekison made his debut when he came on at Kilmarnock and impressed, caught the eye. We thought why not throw him in and see how he handles it against a really strong Motherwell midfield.

"On Saturday we were bitterly disappointed, don’t think we performed as well as we can. We want to finish the season strongly – finishing seventh would be really positive."

  9. Three changes for Celtic; five for Saintspublished at 17:52

    Celtic v St Johnstone (18:30)

John Kennedy makes three changes from the side beaten 4-1 by Rangers 10 days ago.

One is enforced with Callum McGregor suspended following his red card in the derby while Scott Bain and Greg Taylor drop out for Vasilis Barkas and 18-year-old debutant Adam Montgomery.

Scott Brown keeps his place to start his final home game as a Celtic player.

Callum Davidson makes a host of changes from the team which defeated St Mirren in the Scottish Cup semi-final on Sunday.

Out go Zander Clark, Liam Gordon, Ali McCann, David Wotherspoon and Guy Melamed. In come Zdeněk Zlámal, James Brown, Charlie Gilmour, Craig Conway and the semi final hero Glenn Middleton.

Brown, who will join new manager Stephen Glass' backroom staff after 14 years at Celtic, said back in March that he was relishing the prospect of "a new chapter" in his career.

Brown, who signed for Celtic from Hibernian in 2007, amassed more than 600 appearances for the Glasgow side, winning 10 league titles and 12 domestic cups.

At the end of March, when Aberdeen were seven points behind and awaiting the arrival of new manager Stephen Glass, Hibernian looked certainties for third spot.

However, if the Dons win tonight, they will move level on points, having also eaten into Hibs' goal difference advantage.

With Sunday's final game away to Rangers, though, Aberdeen must win against a side who arrive on a high after their Scottish Cup semi-final triumph over Dundee United.

Both are already guaranteed a place in the new Europa Conference League, but Livingston could join them in Europe should Hibs go on to win the Scottish Cup and take a place in the Europa League instead.

However, David Martindale's team must improve on a run of one win in their last 10 league outings, during which they have slipped behind St Johnstone on goal difference. Hosting a Rangers side against whom they have not scored in six meetings makes their task more daunting.

St Johnstone have two routes to Europe as they travel to face Celtic on the back of their own Scottish Cup semi-final win over St Mirren. Finish fifth and they are guaranteed a Conference League spot even before they look to beat Hibs to the prize of the cup and a Europa League place.

    Dundee United v Motherwell (18:00)

Dundee United are unrecognisable in comparison to the team that lost the Scottish Cup semi-final at the weekend.

Only Liam Smith, Lawrence Shankland and Jeando Fuchs remain in the side that were beaten 2-0 by Hibernian.

The visitors make just one change from their last game though, with defender Tyler Magloire, on loan from Blackburn Rovers, coming in for Declan Gallagher – who is Aberdeen-bound at the end of this season.

  17. Gerrard eyes unbeaten Rangers runpublished at 17:17

    Livingston v Rangers (18:00)

Steven Gerrard has guided Rangers to the Premiership title - the first in his three years at Ibrox.

However, with two league games remaining the Rangers manager aims to go the entire league campaign unbeaten.

Fresh from being voted manager of the year by Scottish football writers, Gerrard has reflected on successfully ending Celtic's 10-in-a-row hopes.

Steven Gerrard is delighted to have delivered a "historic" league title

"When I first took the job, you do feel the size of the job and the pressure and the responsibility of the role and that is because of the managers who have gone before - Walter Smith and Graeme Souness as two recent ones," he said.

"And it is a tough position to be in because you have got to try to follow in their footsteps and try to add to the wonderful success they have had. To sit here now having produced a league, and an historic league, is ever so satisfying."

Rangers face a trip to Livingston tonight and host Aberdeen on Saturday to conclude their league campaign. Will it prove to be an unbeaten one?
