This is a relatively decent spell for Swansea, who are managing to keep the ball in Barnsley's half.

But the hosts are still a threat and Daryl Dike plays an inviting pass to Carlton Morris over the Swansea defence, which the onrushing Freddie Woodman does well to intercept and clear.

You can see how Barnsley have been so successful under Valerien Ismail.

It might not be the prettiest style you'll see but they had Swansea hanging on for dear life at the start of this half.

But hang on they did.

Can the home team have another spell like that and, most importantly if they do, can they make it count?

Swansea make their first change, with veteran attacking midfielder Wayne Routledge replacing forward Liam Cullen.

Swansea come close to a second goal as Conor Hourihane's free-kick from the left, an attempted cross, looks to be dipping just under the crossbar before Bradley Collins tips the ball away.

Swansea's players look harassed at the moment.

Matt Grimes and Conor Hourihane are two of the Championship's calmest midfielders, both accomplished passers of the ball.

But they've not been given any time by their relentless Barnsley opponents this evening.

Even though they’ve got 11 players in their own box somehow Barnsley end up with six on two.

Swansea City have to be so careful with these corners.

Having weathered the Barnsley storm, Swansea earn a corner as Jake Bidwell's cross is blocked.

However, the away side are soon backtracking again as Barnsley break.

Daryl Dike leads the counter-attack but overhits his pass and Swansea are reprieved once more.

Some respite of sorts for Swansea, in the form of a couple of minutes where they haven't had to defend for their lives.

Valerien Ismael is screaming instructions on the touchline, imploring his Barnsley players to maintain their intensity.

In this second half the home fans are getting behind their team and the players, especially Carlton Morris, are repaying them.

Carlton Morris has another shot, this time a difficult volley from the edge of the penalty area which goes over.

Swansea are holding on at the moment. Barely holding on but just about doing enough.

It's been a great start to the half from Barnsley and they have really got their tails up now.

Swansea are just trying to weather this storm because right now it's wave after wave of Barnsley attacks.

Sub Carlton Morris has made a huge impact for the hosts.

Alex Mowatt curls his free-kick towards the far corner, where Freddie Woodman saves and just about clings on to the ball.

Barnsley are really pressing for an equaliser.

Carlton Morris has already had a big impact.

The Barnsley substitute surges towards the Swansea penalty area and, just as he shapes to shoot, he's hauled down by Andre Ayew.

The Swans' goal scorer is booked and Barnsley have a free-kick just a couple of yards outside the box.

Huge chance for Barnsley!

Substitute Carlton Morris sees a low shot saved by Freddie Woodman, but he only palms the ball into the path of Callum Brittain.

Brittain follows up with a firm shot which Woodman, with centre-back Marc Guehi diving in to help, manages to block.

Alex Mowatt then has a shot deflected wide.

Desperate defending from Swansea and they just about survive.

Oakwell is bouncing!

Early days yet - we're only a quarter of a way through the tie - but a reminder that the winners over the two legs will face Bournemouth or Brentford in the Championship play-off final.

Those two sides met earlier today, with Arnaut Danjuma scoring the game's only goal to give Bournemouth a 1-0 first-leg win.
