West Ham manager David Moyes doesn’t expect his new contract to be sorted until after the end of the season.

Moyes’ present deal expires in the summer and after the improvement his side has made this term, an extension is viewed as automatic.

However, with key Premier League games against West Brom and Southampton still to play, he is keen not to allow the talks to get in the way of West Ham’s attempts to secure European qualification.

“I hope something will be confirmed with my contract but it will probably be after the end of the season now,” he said.

Given the goal difference situation, victory at West Brom on Wednesday will virtually seal a place in the new European Conference League at a minimum next term.

And whilst Moyes says that should only be the start of a general improvement at the London Stadium he feels the achievement would be ‘worthy of a beer’.

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti was also asked about Roy Hodgson leaving Crystal Palace at the end of the season. The pair know each other well from their time when they both managed in Italy.

Ancelotti said of Hodgson: "Roy is a good friend, he had a fantastic career. In every club in Italy they have a good memory of him, and he helped football be better. He also taught a lot of managers how to behave in and outside the pitch."

So Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti admits he wants to bring in more quality players for next season. But he has given little away about who until now.

Asked if he was seeking a winger or a wide player, he said: "It’s one of the positions we are looking for, yes it’s true."

But he added: "We don't need to do a revolution. We have to follow a plan, we signed good players last season and we have to do the same this season. To improve the squad we don't have to do a revolution."

It's a question which will have been asked among Everton fans over the last month or two: How can Carlo Ancelotti, a man with three Champions League titles to his name, not solve the Toffees' wretched home form when they have done so well away?

He said: "Because I'm not a magician, I am only a trainer. It's difficult for me to explain this double face of the team. If we were able to keep the same results at home (as away) we could win the title."

So would better players next season solve the problem?

"We have to improve the quality of the squad for the next season this is for sure. But you can play football in different ways, not only with the quality you can get the result. It's true that I won a lot of trophies, but I don't know how many trophies I won for the quality, instead for the spirit, for the attitude, for the sacrifice , or the concentration, for the personality.

"It’s not only a matter of quality."

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti says defender Yerry Mina is back in contention after missing the defeat by Sheffield United (more of that in a bit), and Josh King is also back after a small hamstring problem.

So apart from midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Ancelotti has a full squad to choose from.

The right-back has faced some criticism this season in regards to his form but the Liverpool boss knows the 22-year-old is up to the challenge.

Klopp said: "He has played a good season I think we have had 20-odd centre-half pairings, which is tricky. He is still a young player and he has had a much bigger part in organising the last line than he had previously.

"It means from a young, world-class talent to a defensive organiser, it's a step, but he did it well. Long may it continue for us because it's very important without Trent's shape, we would be in a different place, definitely."

Back to Alisson's goal against West Brom at the weekend and the quality of defender Trent Alexander-Arnold's corner is put to Jurgen Klopp.

"This was a world-class corner - not the first, hopefully not the last" said Klopp.

"We shouldn't take these sort of the things for granted. We see brilliant, world-class players in decisive moments, delivering quite average set-pieces - that is quite common in the dying seconds of a game.

"But that corner, that cross, that made the goal happen. Ali only needed to put his head on it. And he did that quite well, as well."

Liverpool's dramatic 2-1 win over West Brom on Sunday is still buzzing around the Zoom press conference as Jurgen Klopp chugs a bottle of water.

Goalkeeper Alisson's incredible injury-time header was celebrated wildly by the entire team - none more so than forward Mohamed Salah.

There has been speculation over the Egyptian's future at the club but Klopp is in no doubt where Salah's loyalties lie.

"We're together everyday, so I know how committed Mo is to this team and this club," Klopp said. "So I don't need a goal celebration for everyone else to see it.

"For me it is perfectly logical that we celebrate goals like this because he is working his socks off since he is here.

"I was never in doubt about his love for his team-mates or the club - not for one second."

I asked Nuno Espirito Santo a couple of additional questions about Raul Jimenez's potential return.

Evidently, it is not just a case of a simple yes or no.

"We have a lot of boxes to tick," he said. "There are a lot of things we have to look at after today and decide.

"He needs an MRI, a scan, psychological tests and heading the ball. There are still a lot of things we need to consider before we decide what to do.

"But it makes me very happy just to reach this point.

"After all that we have been through and especially Raul with his family, to see him so much closer to playing again, it is really good news after what happened and what it meant for everybody."

Should Ole Gunnar Solskjaer join the race to sign Harry Kane if the Tottenham striker decides to leave the club this summer?

Former Manchester United defender Denis Irwin has been speaking to BBC Radio Manchester and says it's worth Solskjaer taking a look.

“If any players of that quality come up you’ve got to be in the market and find out whether he wants to come," Irwin said.

"Great that Edinson Cavani has signed for another year, and what Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial can learn from but if Harry Kane comes on the market a club like [United] has got to look at that option.

"He’s a scorer of goals, a fantastic goalscorer, knows the Premier League inside out. It can’t be easy for him because Spurs are his boyhood team, it’s always more difficult when you want to leave, but he’s at the age now he wants to challenge for trophies, so that’s showing ambition.

"He’s given great time to Spurs but if someone of that quality comes on the market you’ve got to look at it."

Roy Hodgson says it was not a decision "taken overnight" to leave boyhood club Crystal Palace.

"It's not a decision that was taken overnight," said Hodgson.

"Maybe the right time to leave the club and even football at the end of the season.

"We've still been able to end the season in a very dignified way, and that's important.

"What will stick in the memory is the pleasure of coming to this training ground and working with all the players."

Outgoing Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson says he does not know if his decision to leave the club will be his final act in football.

Speaking about his future, Hodgson said: "One never knows.

"It is a dangerous thing to do to start making bold statements of retirement when you still feel good about yourself. I really don't know.

"I'm certainly not leaving Palace with the idea to get another job. I'm stepping down from the job to step away from football for a while.

"I'm still looking at the future, whether that be in football or elsewhere. It's a never say never situation."
