The second-half was 100 times better than the first. We moved the ball quicker, we put in better crosses, we played better passes and there were two well-worked goals. They were well worth their win and it's a first win in 90 minutes for Ian Baraclough. That's done and dusted, I expect a tougher game on Tuesday against Ukraine and more changes to the side.

Ian Baraclough picks up his first victory as Northern Ireland manager inside 90 minutes!

Jordan Jones, Gavin Whyte and Ali McCann were all on target as Northern Ireland.

It was an expected win but is that the boost Northern Ireland needed under their new manager?

Here comes Conor Bradley. The 17-year-old Liverpool right back gets five minutes at the end. What a moment for him as he replaces Stuart Dallas.

Alfie McCalmont also comes on for another international appearance in place of Jordan Thompson.

Dion Charles and Liam Boyce can't get on the end of Shane Ferguson's delivery.

It's only a half-chance but it's something to talk about as this one goes out with a bit of a whimper.

Two more changes for Baraclough, but it's two more experienced heads instead of the youngsters.

Liam Boyce and Shane Ferguson are on for goalscorers Jordan Jones and Gavin Whyte.

    15 minutes to go.

Henry Bonello clearly wanted to be a defender before he was put in nets for being tall. He's spent more time out of area than in it tonight.

Paddy McNair turns into prime Lionel Messi as he jinks his way into the area. However he soon loses that power when he trips over his own feet and the ball goes out for a goalkick.

There's been more to smile about for Northern Ireland in the second-half, and here's Daniel Ballard looking happy after winning promotion to the Championship with Blackpool.

The defender will be back in the squad for Thursday's game in Ukraine, so let's hope he doesn't party too much!

Niall McGinn and Josh Magennis are the men to make way.

Well, well, well. It's three! Ali McCann slots home from close range.

Paddy McNair picks the run out of the St Johnstone midfielder and he keeps his cool to tuck the ball away.

You'd love to know what was said at half-time, that's two goals in three minutes. This is much better from Northern Ireland!

    Northern Ireland 2-0 Malta

Gavin Whyte makes it 2-0 on 53 minutes!

Jordan Jones' cross was cleared only as far as Stuart Dallas, who uses his quick feet to find Whyte on the right and he powers a finish beyond Bonello.

That should make things slightly more comfortable now.

Talking about winners, six-time World Superbike champion Jonathan Rea certainly enjoyed Jordan Jones' opener.

Rea won two races in Portugal today to extend his lead at the top of the World Superbike standings.

He dedicated both his victories to Moto3 rider Jason Dupasquier, who passed away after an accident at Mugello on Saturday at the age of 19.

Remember David Healy, Northern Ireland's record goalscorer? It turns out he is also pretty handy in the dugout.

He's just lifted his fourth Irish Premiership title in five seasons as Linfield boss.

The Blues also won the Irish Cup as Healy was named Manager of the Season.

    That's not bad going.

It's a strange game - we've created nothing. They've handed us the goal and handed us the penalty, which we didn't take. It's got the feel of an end-of-season friendly and the players are really not at it. The best thing you can say is that we are 1-0 up.

Ian Baraclough probably would have liked a few more goals before handing some of Northern Ireland's youngsters some minutes.

It may only be a friendly but he will desperately want to pick up his first victory in 90 minutes as boss.

Who would you like to see involved in the second-half?
