  1. What do we know about Malta?published at 16:49 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

Northern Ireland v Malta (17:00 BST)

    Honestly, not a lot.

They're ranked a lowly 175th in the world, some 127 places behind Northern Ireland. On paper at least it looks like a confidence-building afternoon for Baraclough's young side.

They've yet to win a match in 2021 but an impressive draw with Slovakia (Remember them NI fans?) in World Cup qualifying shows they cannot be underestimated.

All but one of their squad plays their club football in Malta but there is plenty of experience there with 34-year-old defender Andrei Agius will win his 99th cap while midfielder Rowen Muscat is set to bring up a half-century for his country from the bench.

Ian Baraclough has opted to go as strong as possible from his available players for this first friendly in Austria.

There's no surprises here and the abundance of youth on the bench will be hoping to make an impact if called upon.

  3. 'An honour and a privilege'published at 16:42 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

Northern Ireland v Malta (17:00 BST)

Stuart Dallas says the opportunity to captain Northern Ireland is "an honour and a privilege".

"We're sacrificing a lot to be here so we're coming out with the aim of winning the two games, starting with Malta on Sunday.

"We want the right culture in the squad and that means turning up for these trips. It's important as a senior player that you set an example to the younger players.

"No matter what level you play at, you have to win games and we haven't been doing that recently. We've had some decent performances so we feel that we're not far away."

  4. This is your captain speakingpublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

Northern Ireland v Malta (17:00 BST)

With Steven Dais and Jonny Evans handed well-deserved breathers after stellar domestic campaigns, Leeds United's Duracell bunny Stuart Dallas will lead Northern Ireland in the double-header.

It was some season for Dallas as Leeds returned to the Premier League. He started every match under Marcelo Bielsa and won Player of the Year, Players' Player of the Year and Goal of the Season at the club's end of season awards.

Not bad going and it will hardly be a surprise to Northern Ireland fans who have been screaming and shouting about Dallas for years.

  5. The future is nowpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

    There are some positives, however.

With several of the senior players unavailable for selection it does give Northern Ireland fans a glimpse into the future.

Chelsea teenager Sam McClelland and Liverpool's Conor Bradley could make their senior debuts under Ian Baraclough.

Bradley's team-mate Liam Hughes could potentially get some game time between the sticks and Alfie McCalmont and Ethan Galbraith will be confident of some minutes in midfield.

With Shayne Lavery involved in Linfield's title party yesterday, Dion Charles is another man who could find himself with more minutes in a green shirt.

Northern Ireland v Malta (17:00 BST)

It's everyone's favourite international window of the year!

We're only joking, of course, as this double-header comes at the end of a tiring season and without a major tournament to look forward to.

Northern Ireland were meant to face Turkey, then it became Malta. It was set to take place on Monday, then it was Sunday. It's also happening in Austria without any spectators present. That tells you everything you need to know about today's fixture.

Anyway, thanks for joining us! You can listen to the game live on BBC Radio Ulster from 16:50 BST.
