    Larne 1-0 Cliftonville

So, the final 45 minutes of the season? Can Cliftonville turn it around, or even force it to extra-time?

There's a half-time change for Cliftonville, and it's an attacking one.

Liam Bagnall, who was on a booking, is withdrawn and Paul O'Neill comes on. McLaughlin is going for it, no other option.

Over the 45 minutes Larne deserve to be ahead. It was toe-to-toe in the first half-hour but Larne are now in the ascendancy. However, you saw with Rory Hale's effort that this game is far from over and I can't wait for the second half - the intensity has been frightening.

  4. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:20 British Summer Time 5 June 2021

    Larne 1-0 Cliftonville

David McDaid's goal is sending Larne into the Europa Conference League qualifiers as it stands.

Excellent, frantic half of football with both sides going close on a number of occasions.

Plenty more to come we hope.

Ronan Hale can't help but laugh.

An outrageous attempted overhead kick is not too far away at all. Goal of the season if it goes in.

We're into stoppage time of a very entertaining half.

  6. Postpublished at 43 mins

    Larne 1-0 Cliftonville

Rory Hale sees what his brother is up to and thinks "my turn".

A beautiful bit of play from the midfielder to craft a bit of space in the box and his bending shot is deflected just wide of the post, brilliant effort.

Interestingly, neither of these teams have lost when one of the Hales have scored for them.

Yeah, Larne are bang in their groove now.

Ronan Hale is about two inches away from doubling his side's lead. He collects the ball at the edge of the box and bends one towards the far post, but it's just over.

  8. Postpublished at 38 mins

    Larne 1-0 Cliftonville

Aaron McCarey is down on his honkers, I wonder if he is still feeling the effects of that collision with Albert Watson.

If he is, then he needs to be taken off the field immediately.

It's not going Cliftonville's way at all at the moment and Larne have their tails up, buoyed by a boisterous home crowd as Mitchell takes on a long shot that lacks accuracy.

  9. goal

    GOALpublished at 33 mins

    Larne 1-0 Cliftonville

Cue wild scenes at Inver Park!

It's David McDaid against his former club to put Larne in front.

Not unexpectedly it comes from a corner, which have been causing Cliftonville bother so far, not least because of the quality of Martin Donnelly's deliveries.

The ball falls to john Herron whose shot is blocked, but it drops to McDaid who takes it first time on the turn to fire his side ahead.

  10. Postpublished at 31 mins

    Larne 0-0 Cliftonville

Ouch, Aaron McCarey needs a bit of treatment after taking a whack in an aerial collision with Albert Watson, for which the Larne captain is shown a yellow card.

McCarey rose to collect a corner and did so, but Watson had committed to the leap and instead of heading the ball, headed the head of the Cliftonville keeper.

All very unintentional, but enough for a booking.

It was so so quick, the movement and interchange but midway through the half it's as if the players are taking a breather after the helter-skelter start. It's clear the enormity of the prize on offer has been taken on board by every player out there.

    Larne 0-0 Cliftonville

Over halfway through the opening half and it's a thoroughly enjoyable 0-0 at this point.

If it was a boxing match you might give the decision to Larne on points, but it would be a mightily close scorecard.

Both sides playing like there's £200,000 on the line.

  13. Postpublished at 22 mins

    Larne 0-0 Cliftonville

Jamie Harney channels his inner Andrea Pirlo to send Ryan Curran in with a ridiculously good long ball.

The bounce does not favour Curran as Josh Robinson gets back to snuff out the danger before he and Albert Watson have a polite word over the importance of not getting caught out by long balls from the opposition centre-backs.

    Post!

Three corners in a row for Larne, all of which whipped wickedly into the box by Martin Donnelly.

John Herron times his run beautifully and heads the ball down with the bounce taking it onto the post.

Brilliant start to this one, 100mph and neither side opting for conservative set-up, proper order.

This time it's a Larne chance as Andy Mitchell takes one touch to set himself from 25 yards then hammers a swerving effort goalward.

It's fairly central and a good height for Aaron McCarey but with the movement on the ball he needs to have his wits about him and he does to parry over.

    Larne 0-0 Cliftonville

Tell you what, that is a big chance for Cliftonville.

Seanna Foster whips in an absolute pearler of a cross, I mean really perfect. Ryan Curran has half a yard of space at the back post and tries to direct his header back across goal, but sends the effort over.

Oof, a tone setter from Liam Bagnall that yields a yellow card. A bit of a reckless slide on Lee Jarvis and the referee puts Bagnall in the book inside three minutes.

The foul gives Andy Mitchell a chance to whip one into the box but it's poor from the midfielder as his delivery floats behind for a goal kick.
