  1. 'The tournament starts here - there are some cracking ties'published at 09:45 British Summer Time 26 June 2021

BBC Sport football expert Mark Lawrenson is taking on BBC Radio 5 Live's pundits, presenters and commentators to predict the outcome of every game at the 2020 European Championship.

Lawro is still bottom of the scoreboard at the start of the knockout phase, but he is pleased that Wales have proved him wrong in reaching the last 16.

"Wales have been fabulous," he said. "I didn't fancy them to get out of what was a tough group, so they have done great.

"As far as the rest of the draw goes, all the big-hitters are through as expected.

"The tournament starts here, really - there are some cracking ties to look forward to. I just hope I start doing a bit better at picking some exact scores to climb the table."

  3. Who made your Wales starting XI?published at 09:29 British Summer Time 26 June 2021

    Wales v Denmark (17:00 BST)

We asked you who should start for Wales against Denmark and, other than the formation, it is a pretty fair bet that manager Robert Page will agree.

Page switched to a 3-4-3 system as he rested some players for Sunday's 1-0 defeat by Italy in Rome, but is expected to return to 4-2-3-1 and the same XI who began Wales' first two group games against Switzerland and Turkey.

Some 68.23% of you would still opt for 4-3-3 but in terms of personnel there is widespread agreement on the strongest line-up as Wales look to reach the quarter-finals of Euro 2020.

The team yoo selected is below, but you can also click here to see how the voting broke down.

  7. Can you cheer for Wales in the pub?published at 08:58 British Summer Time 26 June 2021

    Wales v Denmark (17:00 BST)

Standing proudly, pint in hand, shoulder to shoulder, bars are normally packed with fans singing the national anthem when Wales play.

But as the Euro 2020 finals continue, the atmosphere is much more tame.

Due to Covid, the Welsh government had urged people not to sing or shout in order to stop the virus spreading. One fan said not being able to sing the national anthem was "an alien concept".

While restrictions have eased massively in recent months, there are still strict rules limiting who you can have round or go to the pub with to watch the games.

From bar staff having to wear facemasks and people having to remain socially distanced from friends and fellow fans, supporting Wales in a pandemic is very different to the memories of 2016.

  8. Unity after adversity - are Denmark Euro dark horses again?published at 08:51 British Summer Time 26 June 2021

    Wales v Denmark (17:00 BST)

    Gary Rose
    BBC Sport

Almost 30 years ago, Denmark pulled off the seemingly impossible - they won the European Championship for the first time.

To this day, the players in that team are afforded almost celebrity status - a group of legends who realised a nation's dream.

Now Denmark have new heroes to cheer - the current group having overcome huge adversity following the distressing scenes of Christian Eriksen's on-pitch collapse in their Euro 2020 group opener to reach the knockout stages of the tournament.

On Saturday, they face Wales in their last-16 tie in Amsterdam, but can the Danes replicate the feat of that famous 1992 team and go all the way?

Gary weighs that up here and explains how Denmark managed to pull off that surprise success at Euro 92.

Former Wales women's manager Jayne Ludlow takes a tactical look at how Wales might be able to get the better of Denmark later.

  11. 'Amsterdam will be like a home game for us Wales fans'published at 08:26 British Summer Time 26 June 2021

    Wales v Denmark (17:00 BST)

Danish fans got extra tickets for today's game due to the Netherlands' ban on non-essential visitors from the UK.

But there will be some Wales fans in the Johan Cruyff Arena. For two Welsh brothers, the last 16 encounter is "like a home game" as they live round the corner from the ground.

"We haven't been home since the start of the pandemic because of Covid travel restrictions," said Sam Credgington, 26.

"It has been quite challenging as we've missed our family and friends and although fans from Wales aren't allowed here for the game - in a weird way, it does feel like Wales is coming to see us.

"It'll be quite moving. Watching Wales is one of the greatest feelings. It'll be a chance to get our Wales shirts on, have a sing-song and just enjoy being Welsh with other Welsh people who live over here. It'll be a special moment for us."

  12. Wales fans refused entry at Amsterdam airportpublished at 08:19 British Summer Time 26 June 2021

    Wales v Denmark (17:00 BST)

Some Wales fans were refused entry at Amsterdam airport as the Netherlands currently bars non-essential visitors from the UK.

But Wales supporters said they had been treated unfairly after travelling to Amsterdam from Azerbaijan.

Jamie Shipp, 30, of Pontypridd said: "Surely our Covid risk should be based on having spent the previous 15 days in Baku, not because we are British nationals."

Danish fans can enter the Netherlands if they stay in the country for less than 12 hours as part of an exemption to the entry rules, external for EU and Schengen area, external residents.

The exception does not apply to Wales fans, following Brexit.

  13. It feels different, not having our fans - Balepublished at 08:16 British Summer Time 26 June 2021

    Wales v Denmark (17:00 BST)

After losing to Brazil in the quarter-finals of the 1958 World Cup, Wales had to wait 58 years for their next appearance at a major tournament.

They ended that barren spell in spectacular fashion at Euro 2016, scaling new heights by surging into the semi-finals.

That was always likely to be a tough act to follow but simply qualifying for Euro 2020 - never mind reaching the knockout stages - is an achievement nobody associated with Welsh football has taken for granted.

"It feels different. We don't have our fans in the stadium, which is disappointing," says captain Gareth Bale.

"All we can do is when we get on the pitch, focus on ourselves, focus on our gameplan and try and give the best account as ourselves."

Gareth Bale and Connor RobertsImage source, PA Media

Wales defender Connor Roberts says "99% of the world" will be supporting Denmark for their Euro 2020 last-16 tie in Amsterdam.

Denmark have provided the uplifting story of the tournament, inspired by midfielder Christian Eriksen and his recovery from a cardiac arrest.

Although Wales are marginal underdogs for the game, Swansea full-back Roberts expects neutrals to back the Danes.

"It's going to be really tough but hopefully we can [win]," he said. "I think 99% of the world are going to be supporting Denmark.

"It's going to be tough but we're a good team, we've got good players and we've got a little bit of momentum with good performances under our belts.

"They're a really good team and they're going to have a lot of support but, when we cross that white line, we just have to give everything."

    Wales v Denmark (17:00 BST)

    Dafydd Pritchard
    BBC Sport Wales in Amsterdam

Wales were loved at Euro 2016, underdogs winning new admirers, as they exceeded all expectations on a joyous ride to the semi-finals.

They charmed the tournament to such an extent that even the Red Wall, their many thousand supporters who joined them on the journey, were given an award by their French hosts.

On Saturday, Wales are back for more in the knockout stages of a European Championship but, perhaps for the first time in their brief experience of playing at major tournaments, they will not be the neutrals' choice.

That tag belongs to their second-round opponents, Denmark, whose progress to the last 16 has been the uplifting story of Euro 2020.

It is a tale forged in trauma, their opening game against Finland plunged into darkness when midfielder Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch after suffering a cardiac arrest. The home crowd in Copenhagen was stunned into silence by an incident which shook the football world.

  20. Kane's had no Spurs contact over his future while at Euro 2020published at 07:26 British Summer Time 26 June 2021

Speaking at a news conference on Thursday, Harry Kane said he has had no contact with Tottenham regarding his future as he focuses on peaking in time to help his country at Euro 2020.

The 27-year-old striker's club situation has been the topic of heavy speculation after he told Spurs he wanted to leave.

The England captain has been linked with Premier League champions Manchester City.

"It doesn't really bother me about the outside noise," said Kane. "When I'm here I'm with the boys, I try to help the boys, be a leader in the team."

Kane has yet to score at Euro 2020, but says transfer speculation has nothing to do with that.

"I feel like it's one of them where if you're not scoring as a striker, people look for every little angle why you're not scoring and that's probably the case in this tournament so far," he said. "But like I said, as long as I'm focused, I've got the self-belief I have, I'm not worried about anyone else."
