The attention of the football world will be on Old Trafford this afternoon.

Over 12 years after he left Manchester United for Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo is back.

The posters are up, the scarf sellers are out and there were some early arrivals pottering about outside the ground when I was there at around 10am.

You can see why Tottenham have made a good start to the season. They give very, very little away. A tough nut to crack.

And they do have quality up front, not that we've seen it here so far. Harry Kane only needs half a sniff.

It's not good to watch if you're a neutral but they'd very happily take another 1-0 here.

Good news: that half is over.

Bad news: there's another one to come.

Seriously, though, Palace have been the better of the two sides and have created the one serious chance.

Spurs have been solid, which is the best you can say about them.

Palace remain on top. Conor Gallagher's free-kick from the left is headed away by a Spurs defender, but the pressure is still on.

Big chance! At last!

Wilfried Zaha creates it, beating Emerson Royal and then Pierre Emile Hojbjerg down the right before pulling the ball back to Conor Gallagher for a shot from a few yards out that is blocked behind by Hugo Lloris.

In a game like this, with so little action at either end, that is a massive opening.

Conor Gallagher gets into a great position to receive the ball on the edge of the box. He turns and then scoops his shot to pretty much the spot in the stand his earlier free-kick landed.

Plenty of purpose but no end product from either side as yet as this heatmap shows.

Neither keeper called into action.

The ball is fed into Christian Benteke's feet and he manages it to hold it up the edge of the box, but his poked ball through - that is designed for Wilfried Zaha - runs out of play.

Could Zaha have anticipated that a bit better?

This is a good spell from Palace. They're playing in Spurs territory, trying to make something happen.

Two Palace corners in succession. Hugo Lloris does really well under pressure to get a fist to each of the initial deliveries.

A foul on him releases the pressure.

Wilfried Zaha involved again, this time cutting inside to fire a low, deflected shot past the post.

Tottenham aren't happy. They feel they should have had a foul for a challenge on Harry Kane.

And now Wilfried Zaha floats a cross through the box for no-one.

It's not a lack of intent that is the problem.

For a moment, it was better, as Conor Gallagher's flick releases Jordan Ayew down the right. But his cross hits the front man and is cleared.

Another aimless ball forward, this time from Joel Ward, drifts over the head of Christian Benteke. Tough day to be a striker who wants ball to feet.

Oliver Skipp tries to find Harry Kane with a chip into the box, but in keeping with the game so far it drifts out of play.

I'm not sure either side has strung more than three passes together in the opponent's half yet. We're still waiting for an effort on target.

So good to have the Premier League back.

Wilfried Zaha is getting wound up. He goes down under another challenge, this time from Lucas Moura. The Palace man is not getting the protection he expects.

Harry Winks swings a cross into the mixer, but Vicente Guaita is always favourite and claims. Harry Kane is isolated and ostracised from the game.
