  1. Lawro's predictionpublished at 11:49 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

Crystal Palace v Tottenham (12:30 BST)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

Tottenham have not done anything spectacular so far but they have done really well to win every Premier League game 1-0 - especially because I think their defence is their weak link.

Harry Kane is back, and scoring again - well, for England anyway - but Spurs could be without his strike partner Son Heung-min on Saturday because of a calf problem.

I'd still fancy Spurs to edge this one and continue their 100% winning start, even if Son is not fit, but I am not especially worried about Crystal Palace's wait for a first league win under Patrick Vieira.

The Eagles got a really good point against West Ham last time out and, from what I have seen of them so far this season, they have picked up a bit each game they have played.

    Prediction: 0-1

Tottenham have really stepped up their pre-match kit game. Most team rock up in club tracksuits, but the Spurs lads are all decked out in sharp suits and matching t-shirts.

Speaking of looking cool, Patrick Vieira saunters through the Selhurst Park underbelly en route to the changing room. The man just glides.

Crystal Palace v Tottenham (12:30 BST)

Spurs arrive at Palace having started a league campaign with three wins and three clean sheets for the first time in their history.

The only teams to have begun a top-flight campaign with four wins and no goals against are Aston Villa in 1900-01, Ipswich Town in 1974-75, Chelsea in 2005-06 and Manchester City in 2015-16.

Here is one to interest those of you in the predictions game... on the two previous occasions in which Spurs started a season with three clean sheets (1924-25 and 2005-06), they lost 2-0 in their fourth game.

Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira names the same starting XI as in their 2-2 draw at West Ham prior to the international break. Summer signings Odsonne Edouard and Michael Olise take their place on the bench.

Crystal Palace XI: Guaita, Ward, Guehi, Andersen, Mitchell, Kouyate, McArthur, Gallagher, Zaha, Ayew, Benteke

Subs: Butland, Milivojevic, Tomkins, Olise, Hughes, Clyne, Edouard, Kelly, Riedewald

    Spurs XIImage source, BBC Sport

Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo makes three changes to the side that began the victory over Watford in their last Premier League outing. Davinson Sanchez misses out as he needs to follow Covid-19 protocols having being involved with Colombia, while Son Heung-min and Steven Bergwijn are both injured.

That means Emerson Royal comes in for his debut, while Harry Winks and Lucas Moura also start.

Tottenham XI: Lloris, Tanganga, Royal, Dier, Reguilon, Winks, Skipp, Hojbjerg, Alli, Kane, Moura

Subs: Gollini, Doherty, Gil, Rodon, Ndombele, Davies, Scarlett, Omole, Markanday

  10. Why is Ronaldo's return not on TV?published at 11:23 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

Man Utd v Newcastle (15:00 BST)

It's a legitimate question. The answer is, of course, the 3pm Premier League blackout that is now back in place this season.

Uefa rules allow countries to have a two-and-a-half-hour window on a weekend when games cannot be shown live on TV.

England has 14:45-17:15 BST as its blackout.

Sky Sports and BT Sport had to pick which September games would be moved for TV on 5 July - long before anyone thought Ronaldo would re-join United on deadline day.

Both broadcasters reportedly decided against trying to change their TV pick at late notice - if it would even have been possible to do so.

I want to be able to say that time has affected Ronaldo like the rest of us, but it really hasn't. The man clearly chose wisely when picking from the table of holy grails...

Man Utd v Newcastle (15:00 BST)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

Manchester United cannot be accused of underplaying Cristiano Ronaldo's return to Old Trafford against Newcastle this weekend - a match that will be broadcast exclusively in the UK on BBC Radio 5 Live.

Ronaldo landing in the UK. Ronaldo turning up for training. Ronaldo talking to manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. United's media channels have squeezed every drop of content from the build-up to his second debut.

The massive 'Here We Belong' poster on the front of the stadium has been changed to incorporate a prominent image of Ronaldo. The front cover of the programme for Saturday's game is dedicated to the 36-year-old, including the words 'Welcome Home Cristiano Ronaldo'.

Yes, Cristiano Ronaldo, winner of five Ballon d'Ors, five Champions Leagues, multiple league titles and cups, scorer of more Champions League goals than anyone else, close to 700 career goals... I mean I could go on. Well, he's back at one of the clubs at which he made his name.

Manchester United plucked him from Sporting Lisbon as an 18-year-old and gave him the platform on which to go on and become arguably the greatest player the game has seen.

And today, he returns, twice as old, to huge fanfare, to try and pick up where he left off.

  14. Big deal...published at 11:12 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

No prizes for guessing what the biggest story of the day is. But we'll get to Brentford signing defender Mathias Jorgensen on a one-year deal shortly.

Firstly, we have to deal with some small scale stuff about some lad called Cristiano Ronaldo potentially playing his first game for Manchester United after returning to the club. No, I've never heard of him either.
