It's all well and good playing Watkins and Ings but where is the creativity? It's all on the bench in the form of Traore, Buendia and Bailey.

A point was the very least Saints deserved from today. Hopefully Moss will quietly be given a 'break' from refereeing us any time soon.

Pep encouraging city fans to attend a 0-0 bore is just wonderful. I wonder who he will moan at now.

Pep goading the fans pre match and the serving up that bore fest- not good enough! It's no wonder fans don't want to go to the emptyhad.

    FT: Man City 0-0 Southampton

    Manchester City

Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden on BBC Match of the Day: "You can't win them all and they can't be as easy as previous games, winning 5-0. We are a bit disappointed, but these games come and you just have to deal with it and go again.

On seeing the red card for Kyle Walker and penalty overturned: "Definitely on the sideline it was a big relief that the decision got changed. It gave us that little boost after with the crowd behind us. It's a shame we couldn't go on and win it. A lot of the team did [think we won it] and on another day the goal [from Sterling] counts and we win.

"We have to give [Southampton] credit. They made it really difficult. We didn't find space like we usually do. It is something to work on when we play tough opponents again."

  8. 'It was one of the best games since I arrived'published at 18:25 British Summer Time 18 September 2021

    FT: Southampton 0-0 Man City

    Southampton

Southampton manager Ralph Hassenhuttl speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "It was a very demanding game today, this is what we expected. Tactically I must say it was one of the best games since I arrived at this club; the guys did an amazing job. We changed the shape four times in the game and I'm proud of what my team did today. We had chances to win it."

On the penalty decision: "VAR decided it was a clear and obvious error and they had to overrule it."

On chances to win the game: "The final ball in and around the box, the final finish was not there. You use a lot of energy playing against these opponents, but they had massive problems with our 4-4-2 today. We did not have many high balls in their half. You cannot say we did a bad job today. A draw today feels like a win."

  10. 'A draw is the fair result'published at 18:22 British Summer Time 18 September 2021

    FT: Southampton 0-0 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "We struggled with our build up. It was not precise, not good. We lost more balls than usual, and we were not very comfortable connecting with the players up front. We had chances, but a draw was a fair result. We tried to win but we couldn't do it."

On VAR decisions: "I didn't see either of them; the penalty or the disallowed goal. I don't have VAR in my dugout. It was given by VAR, so it isn't a penalty."

On the atmosphere: "It was great, as always."
