Dave Dixon: If Son goes to ground 1 stride early there with Alonso pulling him down its a pen and a red. Lad is far too honest. Any Chelsea player milks that.

Tanguy Ndombele's pass is intercepted by Marcos Alonso. Chelsea can break but Kai Havertz's pass out wide is a poor one and Ndombele gets back to mop up.

Lifa Nati: Even though Lukaku is a better target man and scores goals, Chelsea were playing way better football with Werner in the side.

Khan Karn: Alonso pulling Son back from behind caused the injury to begin with. That could have been a penalty, anywhere else on the field it’s a foul

    Tottenham 0-0 Chelsea

Hugo Lloris gathers it in from a Chelsea attack and immediately launches it up to Son Heung-min.

It bounces off him under pressure from Thiago Silva but there's nobody near Son to pick up the loose ball in midfield.

Spurs are clearly looking for that outlet though. It's caused a few problems but Thiago is handling Son well on the whole.

Son's touch is perfect, but you have to credit Kepa. He comes out and does ever so well to cut down the angle.

Alonso also does enough behind Son to put him off.

RE: Paulc089 - That's funny and probably true. Spurs are Spurs losing to Palace one week and holding the Champions League winners the next.

    Oooh. A chance.

Marcos Alonso fizzes it into the feet of Kai Havertz in the box but his first touch isn't great.

He gets a shot off but it's blocked, before Havertz pokes it wide a few seconds later.

  12. 'We got a little bit of luck'published at 17:00 British Summer Time 19 September 2021

    FT: Brighton 2-1 Leicester

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Graham Potter to Match of the Day: "I thought it was a fantastic atmosphere, a fantastic game – two teams going at it properly. I thought we were really, really good in the first half, then to get the second goal as well and at that point I think at that point we were the better team.

"Then when they score they sense they can get something from it as they are a quality team with great players. So we had to dig in, survive and we got a little bit of luck, I think the margins were in our favour.

"A lot of times last year they weren’t so we can take them this time, but everything you need to have in a Premier League game to win, we did. We attacked well, we defended well when we had to and we had a bit of luck.

"To get the three points against a side as good as Leicester, you have to be good in attack, good in defence, good in the bit in between and then a little bit of luck you need as well because you are playing against quality opposition so it’s nice for us to get that today.

"We’ve not been the dominant side in all of the games but it’s margins, but we’ve managed to hang in there, we’ve managed to find a way to get the points and long may that continue.

"Sometimes you have to keep working, it’s the beauty of the game – sometimes you can do a lot well, and play well, and not win. Then everybody wants to know why you don’t win.

"Then, at the same time, when you win, you have to say ‘OK, we did a lot well but we still needed a bit of luck as well’ and provided we have that humility and that respect for the game, I think we’ve got a chance to compete and that’s what we did today, we competed – and when you add it all up it’s a fantastic three points for us."

  14. 'Everything was a bit crazy'published at 16:59 British Summer Time 19 September 2021

FT: West Ham 1-2 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United keeper David de Gea: "Everything was a bit crazy. I saw Declan Rice with the ball and then suddenly I saw Mark Noble with the ball.

"It was a bit strange. He's the specialist of the team but I made the save and we got the three points.

"As soon as I saw the ball hit Luke Shaw's hand I was always thinking about the penalty."

Ash Williams: Chelsea trying to slow it down and waste time already after 18 minutes. If refs started punishing teams early in the game it’d cut it out instead of bookings after 80 mins.

  17. 'We had two stonewall penalties'published at 16:58 British Summer Time 19 September 2021

FT: West Ham 1-2 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to BBC Sport: "That's football for you - it's ups and downs. You get used to working in this environment. It's not great for your heart but this is why we play football. We looked down and out and David de Gea pulled off the save.

"The handball is probably right, he was making himself bigger. If you clip the ball into someone's hands and they're right there it's difficult. David de Gea made the right call. If he scores it genius and when David saves it's the wrong call.

"We had two stonewall penalties. Clear as day. I'm just hoping it's one of them where Cristiano Ronaldo never wins a penalty."

On Jesse Lingard: "Football, highs, lows that's how it is. You have to learn to live with the highs and the lows. He said sorry after Tuesday and everyone said that's not necessary, he came on and was briliant.

"A great response to their goal. I thought we played some very good football first half but then we need to defend better."

Andreas Christensen has a go from the edge of the box and it flies just over the bar.

He can hit them - he showed that during the Euros - but Marcos Alonso was free to his left and probably a better option.

  19. Postpublished at 24 mins

Marcos Alonso whips it over the head of Romelu Lukaku. It's kept in play on the far side and Eric Dier has to stick a foot out to stop it coming through to Lukaku.

Son Heung-min makes a dangerous run in behind of Antonio Rudiger. It's spotted by Dele Alli but Kepa sees it too and comes charging out of his area to hoof it clear.
