I think when he retires we will then only really appreciate how world class Kyle Walker is. What a recovery to block Neymar.

    Chris, West London

Been a joy to watch Verratti tonight, the complete midfield performance. Never seen a player more press resistant. Few in Europe, if any, better in his position.

  2. goal

GOAL - Porto 1-3 Liverpoolpublished at 21:32 British Summer Time 28 September 2021

    Mehdi Taremi (74 mins)

A cheap goal for Liverpool to give away which will frustrate Jurgen Klopp.

It's curled in from the right and Mehdi Taremi wins it in the air. It's a decent header too, flying past Alisson's left.

Porto have something to work with, finally!

This Manchester City performance deserves at least a goal.

    PSG 1-0 Man City

The change is working for City, Phil Foden has been involved a couple of times already.

The England international puts two dangerous crosses in, one which is hooked away by Presnel Kimpembe and the other punched out by Gianluigi Donnarumma.

In the next move, Kevin de Bruyne shoots wide from way out. That is what City have been restricted to.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's turn for a run-out. Jordan Henderson can get an early shower on his 400th club appearance.

    Real Madrid 1-1 Sheriff Tiraspol

Oh my days! Sheriff Tiraspol have the ball in the back of the net for a second time.

Bruno turns it in from close range and the offside flag is up immediately. It's a close call, and we have a VAR check to make sure it's the right call. Real Madrid have been spared. A little over 15 minutes remaining.

    Porto 0-3 Liverpool

It feels like a training session. Roberto Firmino gives it away but Andy Robertson wins it back about two seconds later.

Diogo Jota tries to chest it down for Joe Gomez on the far side but they are on different wavelengths.

PSG haven't had many chances in this second half.

Joao Cancelo stretches to head away Kylian Mbappe's cross from the left.

Haven't seen anything of Lionel Messi. Overrated.

    PSG 1-0 Man City

Riyad Mahrez shifts the ball onto his favoured left foot outside the box but the shot loses all power as it deflects off Presnel Kimpembe and lands into the hands of Gianluigi Donnarumma.

    Porto 0-3 Liverpool

Luis Diaz cuts in off the left. Joel Matip just stands his ground and the Porto man runs into him.

Liverpool break but Roberto Firmino can't quite poke it to Takumi Minamino for a tap-in.

Phil Foden will feel disappointed he didn't start, he played exceptionally against Chelsea. This is perfect now though, the game is open, it's end to end, it's the perfect opportunity for Foden.

  13. CLOSE!published at 21:26 British Summer Time 28 September 2021

    PSG 1-0 Man City

A gorgeous touch from Neymar, hang that up in the Louvre.

The Brazilian collects Lionel Messi and in the same movement manages to dart past Kyle Walker.

The angle is narrowing as he bears down on goal and Walker does well to give Neymar a little nudge as he plonks the shot into the side-netting.

James Milner is coming off. With Trent Alexander-Arnold a doubt for the Manchester City game, that is a sensible decision!

Joe Gomez is on in his place. Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are also pulled. Roberto Firmino and Takumi Minamino come on.

Neymar is all right, he hobbles back on.

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola is readying his first change just after the hour mark.

It looks like Phil Foden has been called back from his extensive warm-up.

He's been out there stretching his legs on the touchline since the start of the second half.

Neymar hasn't been on the ball enough, he's been quiet for someone of his level, we've seen some showboating but that's all.

  17. CLOSE!published at 21:22 British Summer Time 28 September 2021

Much better from Porto. It's pulled back from the byline but Vitinha strikes it straight down the middle.

Anywhere either side of Alisson and that was probably in.

Liverpool go straight up the other end and Diogo Jota then misses another golden opportunity, blasting wide from close range.

After a VAR review, Real Madrid have themselves a penalty.

Vinícius Junior is sandwiched in a tackle and after looking at the pitch-side screen, we have a spot kick.

Karim Benzema makes no mistake, hammering the penalty home.

    Catastrophe averted?

  20. CLOSE!published at 21:19 British Summer Time 28 September 2021

    PSG 1-0 Man City

    City are getting closer.

Another superb delivery from Joao Cancelo, swung into the danger area but big Gianluigi Donnarumma is off his line to punch clear just ahead of Kevin de Bruyne.
