    AC Milan 1-1 Liverpool

Neco Williams tries to get around Sandro Tonali on the right but he's shoved off it now. There's a free-kick which Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain takes.

Nathaniel Phillips is close to it but it's punched away by the keeper.

There's a corner for Milan afterwards. It's played short and they move it around Neco Williams but the low cross won't reach Franck Kessie. Alisson gathers it in at the near post.

  3. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 51 mins

    AC Milan 1-1 Liverpool

Milan take a sneaky free-kick. It's slipped through to Franck Kessie in the box. Kostas Tsimikas comes across and it's a bit clumsy. There's shoving in there but not enough for the referee to award a penalty. It goes to VAR for a quick look but they won't overturn that.

It's win or bust for Milan in the second half, but I don't think they're the type of team to go all out straight away.

Takumi Minamino gets it from Kostas Tsimikas on the left. He has acres of space to turn into and does, curling one from the edge of the box which is just over the bar. Always rising though.

Salah may have scored 20 goals, but Lewandowski has 27 already this season, including 9 in the Champions League. Both are incredible

To Tom at 20:51. Lewandowski has 27 this season so far...just saying. Robbed of his Ballon d'Or.

  11. How did Coutinho become a bit-part misfit?published at 20:59 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2021

Bayern Munich v Barcelona (Wed, 20:00 GMT)

When Barcelona travel to Bayern Munich tomorrow, it's unclear whether their record signing will take part.

It's a must-win game for Xavi's team. Otherwise, a home victory for Benfica over already eliminated Dynamo Kyiv would see Barca fail to reach the Champions League knockout stage for the first time since 2004.

Former Liverpool superstar Philippe Coutinho, however, is far from certain to play against his former club, having made a gradual slide from the third-most expensive player in history to a largely overlooked afterthought.

    What on earth has happened?

    HT: AC Milan 1-1 Liverpool

When Mohamed Salah had his shot, he took it when the ball was on the rise. Nobody takes it when the ball's on the rise, they take it when it's going down.

He thinks about things in a different way. He seems to get power out of his left foot in a way that only Lionel Messi can.

  14. Six out of six for Ajax?published at 20:55 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2021

Who wants Ajax in the last-16?

They're motoring in Europe this season and find themselves 45 minutes away from making it six wins out of six in Group C after establishing a 2-1 half-time lead over Sporting Lisbon, who are also through to the knockout stage.

In Liverpool's group, it is 0-0 at the break between Porto, who are second and heading through as it stands, and Atletico Madrid.

If the scores stay the same in Group B, Atletico are heading out of Europe.

In Group D, Real Madrid lead Inter Milan 1-0 at the break. Inter will be unseeded in the last-16 draw unless they can turn it around in Spain's capital.

In the same group, Shakhtar - who are going out of Europe - lead Sheriff Tiraspol 1-0. Sheriff are heading into the Europa League.

  20. Dortmund double their leadpublished at 20:48 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2021

    Borussia Dortmund 2-0 Besiktas

Things have gone from bad to worse for Besiktas.

Welinton has been sent off for bringing down Mahmoud Dahoud in the box and, after a check of the pitch-side monitor to confirm the decision, Marco Reus doubles Dortmund's lead from the spot.
