Daniel: Even as a Utd fan, I’m applauding city in this game, they look so much better than Real.

Michael: Real Madrid could be in for a heavy beating tonight... Wonder what their biggest loss in the competition is. If I was a fan, I'd be expecting it tonight.

    Man City 2-0 Real Madrid

    The chances keep coming.

Phil Foden's touch is majestic to bring the ball down and his low ball gets past Thibaut Courtois and forces David Alaba to hack away with Gabriel Jesus in the hunt.

The flag goes up but replays show Foden was on. VAR would have ironed that out.

Andrew: This is where Ancelotti probably wishes he could have a timeout to wake his squad up. This could end up being a cricket score at this rate.

Sho: Knew it would be easy for City but not this easy. They're just way too strong for this aging Real Madrid team.

It remains all City. Complete domination of the football.

Real are being dragged all over the shop.

I said Real wouldn't panic. I think maybe a bit of panic might not be a bad thing now. They need to wake up.

The movement - Real Madrid can't handle it. What a touch from Gabriel Jesus, cool as you like. Nobody is picking the crosses up. He's quickest to react. The goalkeeper can't set himself, it's too quick. Two balls into the box and two goals.

    Gabriel Jesus

A good start? Nope. It's an absolute dream!

City have bossed this from the off. Phil Foden is released down the left, checks and finds Kevin de Bruyne. The midfielder looks up and sends in a low cross that breaks for Gabriel Jesus to slot in.

The Brazilian is on fire at the moment. City are burning Real.

Rodrygo's superb touch kills a long ball forward to the right. He can't get away from Oleksandr Zinchenko, though. The full-back is stronger in the tackle.

Viewers of this Champions League season (or indeed many past Champions League campaigns) will know only too well how resilient Real are. They'll rally quickly from that early goal.

    Man City 1-0 Real Madrid

The first mistake from City is a poor clearance from Ederson that gifts Real the ball near the City box. The home defence rally quickly to stop Rodrygo causing any damage.

Wow! What a start for Manchester City! The way they pressed and got the ball back... Riyad Mahrez just whipped that ball in and Kevin de Bruyne with a diving header that left Thibaut Courtois with no chance. The timing of his run - to get in between the centre-backs!
