West Ham got their first proper European win of the millennium, but Spurs and Leicester both drew 2-2.

Premier League is back tomorrow night with Newcastle v Leeds.

Lincoln Red Imps became the first side from Gibraltar to reach the proper stages of a European competition.

But they lost their Europa Conference League opener 2-0 to PAOK Salonika tonight.

English striker Chuba Akpom scored the opener.

Mesut Ozil scored his first European goal in three years tonight as Fenerbahce drew 1-1 at Eintracht Frankfurt.

No player has scored more goals for Leicester in major European competition than Harvey Barnes (four, level with Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez), with all four his strikes coming in the Europa League over the last two seasons.

Leicester City

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers on BT Sport: "Disappointed with the end result but some exciting and good moments - the two goals are outstanding and one disallowed that was tight.

"Maybe we tired a bit, some players were getting minutes in their legs. There are things for us to improve on - keeping the ball better for longer periods, if we did that we wouldn't tire so quickly.

"The effort and mentality was good, it is a shame we couldn't close it out. I don't think they created too many chances, we had good possession. You have to do all the unglorified stuff, the last goal we just couldn't quite get there to stop the cross.

"The crime isn't giving away the two goals, the crime is if you don't learn from it - I'm sure that is something this young team will do. The support was amazing, the noise, how they tried to lift the team, they gave us everything."

On Harvey Barnes' performance: "That will see Harvey push on now, he has been building up, you see when he is at the level - a great cross for the first goal and the second goal we have worked on hat during the week, going both ways."

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen: "I am happy to have helped the team with two goals but the most important thing is that we play as team, came back from two goals down and got a point at the start of the Europa League."

With his brace tonight, Victor Osimhen has been involved in nine goals in his last 10 appearances for Napoli (seven goals, two assists).

Ayoze Perez netted his first goal in 15 games for Leicester. This was the first time the Foxes failed to win a game in which he scored (W8 D1).

It was a fantastic performance from Victor Osimhen tonight. His two goals were excellent.

He had six shots, three on target - almost as many as all of Leicester's players combined.

The 22-year-old Nigeria striker cost Napoli a reported 70m euros from Lille last summer.

Leicester City

Leicester goalscorer Harvey Barnes speaking to BT Sport: "First game of the group we wanted three points and got ourselves into a great position, so it is a disappointing one but there are a lot of positives - the goals we scored and chances we created, that's something we've looked at that have not been good enough, we know our standards.

"After an injury you want to feel like you are getting back, so to get a goal and an assist is personally great, but it's hard to be too excited about that when you don't get three points."

Legia Warsaw are top of the group. They won 1-0 at Spartak Moscow yesterday thanks to Lirim Kastrati's injury-time strike.

The Foxes go to Legia on Thursday, 30 September.

This was the first time Leicester have had a two-goal lead in a home match and failed to win since September 2016 against Chelsea.

They had won each of their previous 47 such matches before tonight.

That result could be a big blow for Leicester.

The winners of each group go straight into the last 16.

But the runners-up have to play a round before that - against a team who finished third in a Champions League group.

So there's a much bigger difference between finishing first and second than there used to be.

A great start for Jose Mourinho at Roma - six wins in six games.

They beat CSKA Sofia 5-1 in the Europa Conference League.
