"The ability to surge away from people, his power and speed, is a great trait. He gets a bit of ribbing for not scoring enough goals so he's beginning to stand up a bit now."

West Ham manager David Moyes: "I was really pleased with the way the players played.

"Zagreb have a really good history in European football so I knew it was going to be a tough game and the players were made aware of that.

"It's something new for us, certainly to someone like Declan Rice who's played for his country but not in Europe for his club, so it's something he's going to have to get used to as it is for most of the players here.

"I'm really excited about the prospect of slightly not knowing how good they could be. We brought in some new players tonight and didn't look any the worse for it.

"Bigger challenges will come and my target is still to still be in Europe after Christmas, when other teams come in. It's only one game, but the players are in a good place."

Wuanito: How Napoli haven't got at least a goal is beyond me!!

Dave: You should read all the stick that Perez receives from the fans on social media. Hopefully that goal will shut some of them up.

More from West Ham's Declan Rice: "There has been a real buzz around the place, the lads have known for so long what's been coming and to come away in our first European night and get the win is very good.

"We know how important it is to win these kind of games. We knew it would be tough to come out here tonight.

"We want to get as many points on the board as quickly as possible and wrap up qualification. We've got Rapid Vienna next, but Manchester United first, so focus turns to that now and then Europe after."

On his goal the England midfielder added: "It's a part of my game I've been speaking about for so long. I know I can do it and I know I've got it in myself.

"I read the pass, beat the player to the 50-50 and just thought keep going, he's not going to catch me. It was a quick-thinking, instinctive process, because Michail [Antonio] pulled away and I was going to pass, but I thought if you don't shoot you don't score. So I shot and luckily it went in the back of the net."

West Ham United

West Ham midfielder Declan Rice: "It feels amazing, incredible. Last year we worked so hard to achieve this and we didn't want to let the fans down tonight.

"We knew we had a tough game to come out here for the first one, and we had to get the three points for ourselves, but also for the travelling fans. They've been amazing.

"We felt we were in control. In the first half they sat behind the ball and it was a case of keeping the ball moving. Michail [Antonio] pounced on a mistake and made a great finish.

"Then in the second half I read the pass and pounced on the mistake as well. Two mistakes and they get punished and we walk away very happy tonight."

The half-time whistle goes. Leicester lead but Napoli have had a bucket load of chances to equaliser and take the lead.

Napoli get a corner as we enter the second and final minute of stoppage time.

Two more saves from Kasper Schmeichel as Napoli continue to miss chances.

The first is an excellent reaction stop from Hirving Lozano's bullet header, and then he gets down low to save Fabian Ruiz's side-footed effort from just outside the box.

That was Leicester's first shot on or off target since the goal. Patson Daka had a blocked effort about 10 minutes ago.

Leicester's first chance in an age. Timothy Castagne cushions the ball into the path of Patson Daka, but his turn and shot is weak and David Ospina scoops it up.

Another Lorenzo Insigne chance. This one blocked.

Now Victor Osimhen stabs the ball over from near the penalty spot.

Napoli should be level by now.

Lorenzo Insigne should score. The ball drops to him 14 yards out in the box and he shoots wide of the right post - although Kasper Schmeichel may have had it covered.

How aren't Napoli level here?

Victor Osimhen barges down the right, beats a defender and crosses. Piotr Zielinski meets it and shoots from about six yards out. Timothy Castagne throws himself in the way to block the goalbound shot but it still needs Kasper Schmeichel's feet to keep it out.
