The atmosphere is superb. Can West Ham match it?

Tonight's game is Jose Mourinho’s first match back in England since being sacked by Tottenham last year.

He was axed by Spurs on the eve of last season’s League Cup final and is now on the brink of a final with Roma, but the former Chelsea boss holds no fear of losing his current job in the same way.

“I have to admit in my long career with so many things which have happened that one is quite unique, but Mr Levy (Tottenham chairman) is also quite a unique person,” he said.

“For all the work we have all done this season to try to improve the club at every level I think we deserve to be in the final.

“Unfortunately, football doesn’t give you what you deserve and to get there we have to beat a very good team with a very good coach and very good players.

“We have to be at a high level in two matches to reach the dream of taking Roma to a final.”

Eintracht Frankfurt's fans were literally bouncing when they were singing their songs just then.

It looks like they will make plenty of noise.

No wonder Xavi was upset when so many got into the Nou Camp for their stunning win over Barcelona in the last round.

West Ham have not made the same mistake tonight. Lots of claret and blue around the London Stadium.

Tammy Abraham has scored 15 Serie A goals, as well as eight in the Europa Conference League, for Roma and has praised the support he has received from boss Jose Mourinho.

The England forward left Chelsea having netted 12 times in 34 appearances last season but failed to convince boss Thomas Tuchel.

“To do what I’m doing now for a great club like Roma, I can’t really describe the feeling,” said the 24-year-old. "Coming off the back of a difficult season at Chelsea where I wasn’t really playing games to coming here and shining again, it’s like a dream come true.

“I’ve always been a player who never lacks confidence. Even when I score in training I celebrate like it’s a match. It was about being in the right place to bring out the real me. I’m learning more about myself every day.

“It’s been a good season. It’s not over yet, we have important games to play and my focus is this game and to win.

“It was all about someone believing in me. The past manager – Frank Lampard – gave me that chance, he showed real faith in me and that’s when I was producing. It’s the same now. When you have belief from the manager it makes you want to do the best you can."

  8. 'We'd like a good result tonight'published at 19:50 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

West Ham v Eintracht Frankfurt (20:00BST)

    West Ham United

West Ham boss David Moyes speaking to BT Sport: "It's never easy. In the last round, during the first game I thought it would finish in a draw and then when we went there as the away team we went on to win so I'm not sure how it will go, we'll have to see.

"We'd like to try and get a good result tonight and take it to Germany next week.

"We enjoyed winning the quarter-final and we'll look forward to trying to win this semi-final."

Jose Mourinho loves to make his mark with a trophy in his first season at any club and the Europa Conference League meets his requirements at Roma.

Mourinho has been in very relaxed mood before the game, chatting with Foxes' manager Brendan Rodgers, who was on his staff at Chelsea.

Good atmosphere inside The King Power Stadium as Leicester City try to add European glory to the Premier League and FA Cup triumphs in recent years.

  10. No Xhaka tips to Sowpublished at 19:47 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

West Ham v Eintracht Frankfurt (20:00 BST)

Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Djibril Sow revealed his Switzerland team-mate Granit Xhaka, the Arsenal midfielder, wanted to come and support him against West Ham but was unable to make it.

However Sow says Xhaka has not supplied any inside intelligence on their Premier League rivals.

“He wanted to come and watch but could not do that in the end,” he said.

“We have, though, had fantastic analysis provided by our analysts – we don’t need additional tips. We’re going to have a lot of fun in the match.”

This feels like something special tonight, and not just the cheese pretzels.

From two hours before kick off outside the Red Bull Arena, fans began to swarm. With around half an hour to go, the place is electric.

It's been a long road for Rangers. It's also been a long road for some fans, with one telling me it took him 27 hours to get here via Palma. Fair play to him for not just staying there...

The absence of Roofe and Morelos has done little to dent the party or optimism among the Rangers support who have spoken to BBC Scotland so far today. Equally, Leipzig fans come here expecting their team to take a big step towards their first ever European final.

Rangers failed to turn up in Braga in the quarters and had to launch an astonishing comeback at Ibrox. Can they do better here?

West Ham manager David Moyes is getting his rewards for playing strong teams in the Europa League.

Declan Rice, Michail Antonio and Kurt Zouma all played in the first group game against Dinamo Zagreb, helping to secure a victory which set the tone.

In his programme notes tonight, Moyes underlines his stance.

"We have embraced and enjoyed all aspects of our Europa League journey this season," he said.

"We have fully respected the competition and every team we have played along the way."

"However, the Foxes had little luck with the draw as their semi-final opponents, Roma (ranked 29th), are the second best remaining team. Leicester are estimated to have 53% chance of reaching the final.

"Marseille (ranked 35th) are the favourites in the other semi-final against 45th ranked Feyenoord and are estimated to have 56% chance of progressing to the final."

West Ham v Eintracht Frankfurt (20:00BST)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport at the London Stadium

'West Ham are massive, everywhere we go' is a chant that has attached itself to the Hammers run to the semi-final of the Europa League.

It originated when celebrity fan and rapper Guvna B called the club 'massive' in an interview earlier this season.

With a sell-out 60,000 crowd tonight - and an expansion planned for next season taking the capacity of the London Stadium up to 62,500, they are at least quite big.

Mark Noble says it “would be a dream come true” to lift a European trophy as the 34-year-old prepares for one of the biggest games of his West Ham career.

The Hammers legend, who has made 564 appearances for the club, is set to retire at the end of the season and admits he is eyeing a “special” end to his career.

“I’ve been asked so many times [about changing his mind on retiring] but to end on winning the Europa League would be pretty special,” he said. “I don’t think I’ve ever looked forward to a game as much in my career.

“I’ve given my life to this club, through the good times and bad times. Winning the competition would be life-changing and for a club and fanbase that has really stuck with their team, it would be a really good payback.”

  20. Moyes says he always believedpublished at 19:27 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

    David MoyesImage source, PA Media

David Moyes says he always thought he could "have a team challenging near the top of the league".

Barring a short-lived spell at Manchester United, Moyes has never managed a team who regularly win trophies.

"I honestly thought if I could get it going, I'd have a team challenging," he said. "Is it by luck, by plan or design? Sometimes you need a bit of all of them.

"To bring West Ham from where they've been to where we are today is huge. To get to the semi-final of a European competition and give ourselves a real chance of getting to a final is something really special.

"If you're going to be a regular challenger, you have to get used to playing a lot of big games.

"We would have loved to have basked in the glory of beating Lyon, but we had to quickly get on to the next game.

"You don't really get a chance to turn off because the job is all-consuming."
