Dom - Appreciate I might pique some jealousy here...I've dreamt of watching England at a tournament. Gave up on this one due to Covid crowd restrictions but me and my best friend have tickets for tonight. Hoping I'm not a bad omen and the 8hr round trip drive is worth it!!

Mark - The company I worked for had factories all over Europe, and one year we had a Company Euros football tournament in France. The final... Italy vs England. It's definitely coming home!

Sean Paul, Holland - Wish I was an Englishman today. Come on England!

  2. Three Lions eye first major final for 55 yearspublished at 15:30 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    England v Denmark (20:00 BST)

England are preparing to face Denmark in the semi-finals of Euro 2020 at Wembley on Wednesday, knowing victory will secure them a place in a major men's tournament final for the first time since 1966.

Gareth Southgate's side will face Italy in Sunday's final if they defeat the Danes in front of around 60,000 mostly England fans at Wembley.

Millions more are expected to cheer the Three Lions on from home, in pubs and designated fan parks after a peak TV audience of 20.9 million watched them cruise past Ukraine 4-0 in the quarter-finals last Saturday.

"We don't have as good a football history as we like to believe sometimes," said Southgate. "These players are making massive strides and breaking down barriers all the time.

"We have never been to a European Championship final so we can be the first England team to do that which is really exciting."

Is it me or is today dragging? I keep going from being confident to stressing out. We have set the bar high so I hope we turn up tonight and not put us through the ringer of a penalty shootout.

    Lee

It's not you, Lee. Today is dragging and kick-off still seems ages away. Oh, and you went there with the P word too. Let's just try to ignore that possibility eh.

'Hand of God pain still hasn't gone'published at 15:19 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

Don Hegarty - Memories of being in the Azteca Stadium in Mexico watching us lose to Argentina in 1986. Hand of God and all that jazz. The pain still hasn't gone.

Hugh - At Euro '96 my dad took me to the semi-final at Wembley. 25 years on and I'm taking my dad back there, hopefully for a different result!

Pip Morris - I was in Lisbon for our match v France in 2004. We were 1-0 up until the 90th minute but lost 2-1. Traumatic. Victory now would help recovery.

Kazim - Goosebumps as every hour passes! I'm lucky enough to have a ticket to the final and really hope I'm not travelling 3 hours to go watch Italy v Denmark when England are in touching distance of it. Come on England!!

Mytwitdc - This is the first time since Italia '90 that I genuinely thought England could win it all. Harry Kane will make me be right this time!

Bill Bevan - I watched England v Scotland in Euro 96 on my birthday, after an all-nighter at a drum and bass club and a breakfast of melons picked up cheap from the 24 hour supermarket. Thank you Gazza for that birthday present of a goal!

    England v Denmark (20:00 BST)

Denmark fan Miki has been telling BBC Radio 5 Live what he thinks of the 'Three Lions' song.

"I think it's brilliant; it's the best football song you can sing in a stadium, actually," he said.

"But, besides that, it's annoying because it's not coming home!

"The English team has not won that trophy so I cannot see how it can come home," he added

  14. Waddle still tipping Italy to win it?published at 15:01 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    England v Denmark (20:00 BST)

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 4

At the start of the tournament, Chris Waddle tipped Italy to win the trophy but will that change if it's an England v Italy final?

"I want England to win, obviously. I'll have to accept it, put my hand up and say I got it wrong, but I would really like England to win.

"I just fancied Italy because I looked at all of the figures over the last two years and Italy have been a very strong team. I couldn't believe that they were tipped as sixth or seventh favourites.

"Spain played very well last night, they were probably the better team, but Italy have got that mentality which sees them through games."

  18. 'All our coaches just stood there in awe'published at 14:48 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Raheem Sterling's former mentor Clive Ellington has been describing the first time he saw Sterling play.

Talking to BBC Radio 5 Live's Rachel Burden, he said: "I saw this little three-foot, four-foot nothing, genius in the playground, just gracefully running amongst players."

Sterling wasn't playing for a club at the time so Clive took him to his club, Alpha & Omega FC.

"All our coaches just stood there in awe of what we were watching. It's a memory you just can't forget," said Clive.
