'I've waited so long for a trophy'published at 13:30 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

Nick Worsfold - I started travelling to watch England in 1978, Copenhagen. I've been to four World Cups and four Euros. I've waited so long for a trophy...it's time.

Shez - I was fortunate to see England beat Germany 5-1 and Argentina in Japan. Winning Euro 2020 would be off the scale in comparison.

Tony Hagan - I was lucky enough to attend the '66 World Cup final and what a memory! Little did I realise we'd have to wait until 2021 for England to shine so brightly again.

Matt - Went to the Germany game and going later. I don't want to hear Sweet Caroline again, I want to hear 60,000 doing the rap from World In Motion.

Will - I'm currently alternating between the 96 and 98 versions of Football's Coming Home on repeat, trying to work out which one's best. Maybe you could help to settle that with a poll?

We're going for the 96 version, Will, but what do you guys think? Hit thumbs up for 96, thumbs down for 98.

'It's coming home' seems to be stuck in everyone's head today. And on behalf of England... Ian, please don't tune in!

Kurt Sullivan - Pretty sure I've just heard a bird land in the garden and start to tweet "It's coming home." On the other hand, today, everything sounds like "It's coming home!"

Sean O'Brien - Here's a sign for you. I left my hearing aids at home. I never do that. So I had to 'come home' to get them. You know what else is coming home? FOOTBALL!

Ian Marks - Fun fact: I've not watched a single England game live at Euro 2020 and now they're in a semi-final. I'll do the whole country a favour and not watch tonight then!

'Something special is happening'published at 13:17 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

Ruban - I was (un)lucky enough to see England crash out of tournaments in 2004, 2006 and 2012, but this team feels different and is bringing it home!

Ian Rowlands - Big highs and lows having attended all tournaments during the '00s. Attended the Germany game and really felt something special is happening.

Paul Griffiths - I was at four of the Euro '96 England games. Bore v Switzerland. Joy v Scotland. Party v Holland. Unbearable tension v Spain. Unforgettable!

  6. What was it like being Pickford's teacher?published at 13:15 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    England v Denmark (20:00 BST)

Alvaro Morata's equaliser against Italy in the first semi-final means Jordan Pickford will finish Euro 2020 with more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper having yet to concede in any of England's five games. So what was it like teaching such a talented keeper?

Alan Fisher, former PE teacher of Jordan, told the BBC: "Jordan was an all-rounder, we had to tame him. He could play rugby, cricket, athletics.

"He always had an edge and we tried him outfield because he had a good left foot. Jordan wanted to play outfield but Sunderland wanted him in goal. I take pride in knowing him but take no credit for what he's become.

"I am still in touch with his Mum, she used to work at the school. He's good friends with teachers at the school and after the Euros we'd love him back."

    England v Denmark (20:00 BST)

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Karsten, a half-Danish half-English football fan, says he is conflicted over who to support tonight.

Talking to Rachel Burden on BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast, he said: "I've lived in both countries and I speak both languages, so this is the fixture I was dreading.

"But I've realised that whatever happens, I've got a team in the final."

Millsysview: My mate @mason_simon vowed not to cut his hair until England go out or the tournament finishes…the plonker jumped the gun and got it done on the weekend…if that ain’t jumping the gun then I don’t know what is!

Richard Newell: I've already got my table booked at the pub for Sunday, because they sell out like hot cakes. Some may say jumping the gun, I like to say well organised. IT'S COMING HOME.

    England v Denmark (20:00 BST)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka is expected to start the Euro 2020 semi-final with Denmark at Wembley.

Saka was outstanding in the last-16 victory against Germany on 29 June. However, the 19-year-old played no part in the quarter-final win against Ukraine after suffering a knock against the Germans which prevented him from training.

Saka has played a full part since then and is set to replace Manchester United-bound Jadon Sancho in what is likely to be the only change in Gareth Southgate’s starting line-up as England look to reach a first major tournament final since 1966.

  12. 'England's defensive record is phenomenal'published at 12:56 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    England v Denmark (20:00 BST)

    Matt Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

No team has kept six clean sheets in a single Euros competition and Matt Upson had his say on what England have accomplished so far.

"You've got to step back and say 'what a phenomenal record'. Hats off to the team and it can be labelled a defensive thing but the defensive reason for that is the whole team, it's just been set up brilliantly for that type of thing.

"The players feel so comfortable out of possession, they know exactly what their role is when they are matched up. Man for man, eventually we overrun the team and I think we are better, so it wouldn't surprise me if Gareth Southgate did that again.

"It must be amazing to play as a centre-back with the confidence that's running through the team. It makes you feel far more relaxed watching England in this tournament, which is actually a nice thing."

'It's time to believe again'published at 12:46 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

Jon - At Wembley '96, England v Germany. Singing Three Lions beforehand - magical. Really believed, and now time to believe again.

Matt Atkinson - I was in Turin in July 1990 to see England vs West Germany and have the photos and tickets to prove it. This team is better all round!

Ollie - I was in Portugal for Euro 2004 and believed we would have won that tournament until Rooney was injured. This is our best chance since!

'Netherlands win at Euro 96 was a night to remember'published at 12:38 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

Glen Hewlett - I was at Wembley for England v Holland in Euro '96 with a dear friend, sadly no longer with us. A night to remember just like last Saturday.

Mike Abraham - Holland game 1996. 4-1. Amazing! A disgruntled Dutch fan gave me his Holland cap in disgust as he left early. Still have it today!

Richard Palmer - At the '96 Holland game a 7-ft high Dutchman in front of me became smaller as the game went on. This England can conjure the same atmosphere.

Current England manager Gareth Southgate missed the decisive penalty against Germany in the nation's last Euro semi-final in 1996.

The former defender has told BBC Radio 5 Live's Emma Saunders he is solely focused on this year's semi-final against Denmark, though, and says he is looking forward to walking his dogs once the tournament is over. Here's hoping that won't be till next week.

Max - My dad took me to Wembley when I was nine to see us thrash Holland at Euro '96. It was the highlight of my England-following life...until now?

John Hanley - In 1996 I sat behind THAT goal where England and Germany went to penalty kicks. The atmosphere at Wembley was unlike anything else.
