It will not be too often this season that four players return to the same former club on a Championship matchday.

Yet that is the scenario at Swansea City this evening, where skipper Joe Allen leads a Stoke City team who would not have needed any help finding the away dressing room.

Allen, a product of Swansea's academy, helped the club to promotion to the Premier League a decade ago, while Sam Clucas is another Potter who played for the Swans in the top flight.

Then come Stoke summer signings Sam Surridge and Ben Wilmot - both former Swansea loanees - with the latter particularly fondly remembered in these parts having scored a derby winner against Cardiff during his spell in Wales.

Stoke City are among 10 clubs to have taken four points from their first two Championship games.

The Potters welcome last season's beaten play-off finalists Swansea City. Russell Martin is still settling into the Swans hotseat, with one point from their home draw with relegated Sheffield United.

Promoted Blackpool also have just a point to show for their efforts so far, after falling to a 2-0 home defeat by Cardiff at the weekend.

The Tangerines host Coventry City, who have won one and lost one, in the first meeting between the clubs at this level since 2011-12.

The late kick-off sees Reading entertain Bristol City. The Royals lost at Stoke on the opening day but bounced back to beat Preston last time out, while the Robins have one point.

Nigel Pearson's side are without a win in their past 12 Championship outings, with their last win coming in mid-March.

At the other end of the spectrum, Bristol Rovers, Crawley Town, Oldham Athletic and Walsall are all looking to register their first point of the campaign.

Rovers host the Latics, so at least one of those clubs will get off the mark.

Two early-season strugglers meet at the John Smith's Stadium.

Huddersfield drew 1-1 at Derby on the opening day, but were then soundly beaten 5-1 at home by Fulham on Saturday, as the Whites finished with 10 men.

Carlos Corberan's Terriers finished 20th last season, and the Spaniard - who previously worked under Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds - is yet to get the Yorkshire club truly firing.

Frankie McAvoy steadied the Preston ship following the departure of Alex Neil in March but, after being handed the reins full-time in May, his North End side have opened the new season with back-to-back defeats.

A 4-1 reverse at home against promoted Hull was followed up by a 2-1 defeat at Reading last time out.

Barnsley are onto their third manager since the start of last season, but the Yorkshire club are still looking up.

Valerien Ismael catapulted the Tykes into the play-off places following his appointment last October but departed for West Brom over the summer.

New boss Markus Schopp has continued the good work, with a point at Cardiff followed by a 1-0 win over Coventry at Oakwell.

Nathan Jones (above) has got visitors Luton ticking over nicely, although a 3-2 defeat at the Baggies burst their bubble after their comfortable win over Peterborough on the opening day.

Peterborough left it very, very late on Saturday to beat Derby County and register their first win following their return to the Championship.

Goals in the 91st and 100th minute gave Posh a 2-1 victory over Wayne Rooney's Rams and put a smile on the face of manager Darren Ferguson.

Visitors Cardiff City drew against Barnsley on the opening day before Mick McCarthy's side won 2-0 at Blackpool three days ago.

The Bluebirds will be hoping to mount a promotion challenge having missed out on the play-offs last season with an eighth-placed finish.

The Welsh outfit are one of 10 clubs sitting on four points, and are third in the fledgling table on goal difference.

Fulham sit atop of the Championship having hit Huddersfield Town for five on Saturday.

Aleksandar Mitrovic, Josh Onomah and Fabio Carvalho (above) all scored before substitute Ivan Cavaleiro added a late double following Harry Wilson's sending-off.

That result gave Marco Silva his first win in charge of the Whites, who were relegated from the top flight last season.

The west Londoners face a test of their credentials as they cross the Thames and travel to The Den.

Millwall have drawn their opening two games of the season 1-1 against QPR and then Blackburn, with Jed Wallace netting both their goals.

After two rounds of action, just eight teams in the English Football League are able to boast a perfect record.

The first evening of midweek fixtures will whittle down that elite set further - although no-one has taken maximum points in the Championship.

There are seven games in the second tier to bring you, with a full programme in League One and nine matches in League Two.

As the summer sun fades the floodlights are being fired up, and you can stay tuned for updates as the goals go in across the country.
