  1. goal

GOAL: Nottm Forest 0-1 Blackburnpublished at 20:49 British Summer Time 18 August 2021

    Daniel Ayala (47 mins)

Blackburn take the lead and it's centre-back Daniel Ayala with a stooping header into the far corner.

It comes from a Harry Pickering free-kick by the corner flag, against the club Ayala spent time on loan with in 2012-13.

Forest lost their first two league games and find themselves behind once more.

  2. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:47 British Summer Time 18 August 2021

Back under way for the second halves in our four 19:45 BST kick-offs.

Not too many goals in them so far I think it's fair to say.

Let's hope that changes come full-time....

  3. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:46 British Summer Time 18 August 2021

    West Brom 1-0 Sheff Utd

West Brom deservedly ahead at the interval through Jack Robinson's own goal from a long throw.

The hosts have had two Callum Robinson goals disallowed for offside and have been a constant threat from set-pieces.

Sheffield United, meanwhile, without keeper Aaron Ramsdale - who's been left out amid transfer interest from Arsenal - are lacking ideas in attack.

  4. Elphick confirms retirementpublished at 20:43 British Summer Time 18 August 2021

Bit of news that broke just before kick-off in this evening's matches.

Former Brighton, Bournemouth and Aston Villa centre-back Tommy Elphick has confirmed his retirement as a player.

Elphick, 33, captained the Cherries side who won the Championship title in 2015 to guide the club to the top flight for the first time under Eddie Howe.

Sadly persistent injuries plagued the latter part of his career and his last appearance came in November 2019 for Huddersfield, who released him at the end of last season.

It's been the Darnell Furlong long-throw show for the Baggies so far.

  6. Postpublished at 20:38 British Summer Time 18 August 2021

    West Brom 1-0 Sheff Utd

Still playing in the first half at The Hawthorns, where they started 15 minutes later than the other games.

Sheffield United have shown very little in attack aside from that bad David McGoldrick miss.

  7. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:32 British Summer Time 18 August 2021

    Hull 0-0 Derby

Wayne Rooney's Derby have been the better side but have lacked a cutting edge in the final third.

Kamil Jozwiak struck the post for the Rams while Sam Baldock shot straight at Matt Ingram when well-placed in the box.

  8. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:32 British Summer Time 18 August 2021

    Middlesbrough 1-0 QPR

Uche Ikpeazu's early penalty sees Boro lead.

QPR have had their moments though in reply and you feel there should be more goals to come in this one.

  9. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:32 British Summer Time 18 August 2021

    Nottm Forest 0-0 Blackburn

Forest were quick out of the traps, Philip Zinckernagel looking lively, but Blackburn survived and grew into the game as the half went on.

In fact, home keeper Brice Samba had to make a couple good saves to ensure Chris Hughton's side go in level at the break.

A few boos ring out around the City Ground from the home fans as the players trundle off.

  10. CLOSE!published at 20:31 British Summer Time 18 August 2021

    West Brom 1-0 Sheff Utd

David McGoldrick, you simply have to score.

Sheffield United go straight down the other end after conceding, Billy Sharp finds McGoldrick but he puts his shot wide when he had the whole goal to aim at.

The Blades still haven't scored in the Championship this season.

  11. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:31 British Summer Time 18 August 2021

    Birmingham 0-0 Bournemouth

Nothing to separate these two at the break and chances few and far between it has to be said.

  12. goal

GOAL: West Brom 1-0 Sheff Utdpublished at 20:27 British Summer Time 18 August 2021

    Jack Robinson og (26 mins)

Darnell Furlong's long throws have been a real weapon for West Brom throughout and they get their reward this time!

Sheffield United can't deal with it and Jack Robinson can only head the ball past stand-in keeper Michael Verrips.

For the Baggies it's a carbon copy of Saturday's opening goal against Luton, which was also a near post headed own goal from a Furlong long throw!

Grant Hall heads a corner wide for Boro after Marc Bola and Isaiah Jones had combined well with Paddy McNair.

Just over five minutes to go until half-time.

  15. Postpublished at 20:21 British Summer Time 18 August 2021

    Nottm Forest 0-0 Blackburn

Forest's fast start has fizzled out somewhat.

Rovers have been allowed to settle and Tyrhys Dolan forces a decent low save from home keeper Brice Samba with an effort from just outside the box.

    Where the goals at?!

  17. Postpublished at 20:18 British Summer Time 18 August 2021

    Middlesbrough 1-0 QPR

Ilias Chair the latest to have a go for QPR as they search for a leveller.

But Joe Lumley is equal to the effort from distance as he pushes it away to the left of goal two-handed.

  18. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 20:17 British Summer Time 18 August 2021

    West Brom 0-0 Sheff Utd

West Brom's Callum Robinson once again has the ball in the net but for a second time the Republic of Ireland striker is denied by the assistant referee's flag.

This time he volleys home from a flick-on but he made his run too early.

  19. Postpublished at 20:11 British Summer Time 18 August 2021

    Middlesbrough 1-0 QPR

QPR enjoying a decent spell after falling behind early and Chris Willock is a real threat for them.

He beats three Boro players down the left and then finds Moses Odubajo, but his cross to the back post is blocked.

  20. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 20:08 British Summer Time 18 August 2021

    Hull 0-0 Derby

Derby have done everything but score here in the early stages.

Kamil Jozwiak makes a clever run, turns his marker but his left-footed shot comes off the inside of the post and out.

The Rams need to make these chances count.
