The pick of this afternoon's Championship matches is without doubt on the banks of the River Thames as Fulham host Stoke.

Both sides have made identical starts to the season with three wins and a draw with the Cottagers holding the slightly superior goal difference.

In all competitions, Fulham have won nine of their past 11 home games against Stoke City and won their last game against them at Craven Cottage in December 2019.

Stoke though are unbeaten in five league games, picking up four wins and one draw.

They are looking to win three in a row for the first time since October 2016.

Many thanks Ian, a couple of early Championship matches there that didn't disappoint.

As he says, we've got nine more fixtures in that tier to come in under half an hour plus a whole host more in Leagues One and Two, so let's bring you some previews...

That's a wrap from our early Championship games as Bristol City take the derby spoils at Cardiff and it ends even between Derby and Nottingham Forest.

That'll do it, Bristol City take the points.

A very entertaining contest comes to a close and those two goals from Andreas Weimann - his second a beauty - have proved the difference.

Cardiff got back into the game through Daniel Bentley's unfortunate own goal and although they pressed for a late equaliser the Robins saw the game out in relative comfort.

A first league defeat for Mick McCarthy's Bluebirds who stay sixth, albeit with the majority of games still to come this afternoon, while Bristol City are up to tenth.

    Derby 1-1 Nott'm Forest

A point apiece probably about the right result.

A decent derby from Pride Park all told.

The hosts took the lead through Tom Lawrence's shot in the first half before Brennan Johnson fired in a leveller towards the end for Forest.

Chris Hughton will be very grateful for Kelle Roos' generous goalkeeping as that might, might just keep him in a job.

Forest take their first point of the season and their fans warmly receive the players as they go over to applaud them.

    Joe Ralls (Cardiff City)

Cardiff are pushing for an equaliser with James Collins and Kieffer Moore keeping the visiting defence honest.

The pressure is building but Joe Ralls then gives away a silly foul - for which he is booked - and the pressure valve is released for Bristol City.

Still work to do if they are to take all the points home though.
