The right-back is glaring. Celtic haven't replaced Mikael Lustig. They need two of them, one left-back, a central midfielder and a striker.

  2. New recruits must waitpublished at 18:24 British Summer Time 28 July 2021

    Midtjylland v Celtic (1-1, 18:45)

"I don't think we will ever be as badly prepared as we were tonight and that's on me," said Ange Postecoglou after the first leg draw.

"I haven't done a great job so far because with the disruptions we've had, we haven't been able to bring the players in. My role is to try and reinforce and prepare this squad."

So, are Celtic any further forward in that regard? Well, yes and no.

Carl Starfelt has been signed since then but the Swedish defender is currently in quarantine, along with Japanese forward Kyogo Furuhashi.

  3. PSV enjoy commanding positionpublished at 18:21 British Summer Time 28 July 2021

    Midtjylland v Celtic (1-1, 18:45)

The winners of this tie are almost certainly going to face PSV Eindhoven in the next round, with the Dutch side smashing Galatasaray 5-1 in their first-leg. The return game in Turkey kicks off at 19:00.

Celtic are going into a Champions League game unprepared - again - with a back five that defies belief. When will the penny drop? They have spoken about rebuilding. They are miles off it.

  5. Midtjylland make four changes from first legpublished at 18:16 British Summer Time 28 July 2021

    Midtjylland v Celtic (1-1, 18:45)

A change of shape for the hosts tonight as they go 5-3-2 from a 4-3-3 and bring in Joel Andersson, Awer Mabil, Juninho and Charles.

Daniel Hoegh, Mikael Anderson, Raphael Onyedika and the suspended Anders Dreyer are the men making way from the first leg.

  6. Young guns continue in defencepublished at 18:13 British Summer Time 28 July 2021

    Midtjylland v Celtic (1-1, 18:45)

With Nir Bitton missing after his two bookings last week, Dane Murray, 18, makes his first start in central defence, where he is joined by 21-year-old Stephen Welsh.

Murray was impressive in the first leg after coming on in the wake of Bitton's dismissal.

Anthony Ralston seems to have been around forever, but the right-back is only 22 and this is just his 18th appearance for Celtic.

At 23, left-back Greg Taylor is streets ahead of the rest in terms of experience.

Barkas is a big omission. The manager has decided he can't trust him. He feels he can't play him.

  8. Bain in for Barkaspublished at 18:08 British Summer Time 28 July 2021

    Midtjylland v Celtic (1-1, 18:45)

In the moment, last week's equalising free-kick from Evander looked like a cracker as the ball screamed into the far top corner from the left of the penalty area.

However, a second viewing did not reflect well on Vasilis Barkas and it gets worse every time you see it, with the Celtic goalie almost pulling his arms out of the way.

It's no real surprise to see the Greece international making way for Scott Bain this evening.

  9. What happened last time?published at 18:04 British Summer Time 28 July 2021

    Midtjylland v Celtic (1-1, 18:45)

Ange Postecoglou ran the gamut of emotions on his debut game as Celtic manager, with Nir Bitton foolishly sent off just a few minutes after new signing Liel Abada had shot the hosts in front.

The numbers were evened up early in the second half when Anders Dreyer received his second booking for simulation.

But Celtic missed a few good chances to extend their lead and Midtjylland levelled with their only shot on target as a fierce free-kick from Evander left goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas flummoxed.

"I was frustrated at the result, not the performance," said Postecoglou afterwards.

  11. Can Celtic continue Champions League journey?published at 17:59 British Summer Time 28 July 2021

    Midtjylland v Celtic (1-1, 18:45)

Celtic are in Denmark this evening aiming to secure passage into the third qualifying round of the Champions League.

The tie is balanced at 1-1 after a turbulent game in Glasgow last week.

Midtjylland can count themselves rather fortunate to be level at this stage, so can Celtic get the job done away from home?
