  1. Until next time...

And that's it from us on a night that 22 teams made it into the Carabao Cup third round.

They'll be joined by the three winners from tomorrow's ties and the seven Premier League teams who are in European competitions in the next round.

Still craving a football fix? You can read reports from all of tonight's game on the BBC Sport website.

We'll be back tomorrow. Until then...

  2. Post update

There are three more second-round ties coming up on Wednesday, with all involving Premier League teams.

Newcastle host Burnley, Southampton travel to Newport and Arsenal visit West Brom.

    Potential for an upset?

  3. Post update

    Charlie Adam

Dundee midfielder on BBC Radio Scotland

On Derby playing Nottingham Forest this weekend after both losing tonight

Both teams are in disarray. Derby are in a bad way and Forest can’t get a win. It’ll be a big game for both clubs. But what a way to get off the mark to win a local derby and both teams have that opportunity. It’s not great getting beaten in the cup. We expected Wolves to beat Forest but Derby will be worried with that result.

  4. Post update

    FT: Watford 1-0 Crystal Palace

  5. 'Archer is a special player'

    FT: Barrow 0-6 Aston Villa

    Rob Green

Former England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

Cameron Archer, a special night and a special player. But he wasn't on his own. That was a team of talented youngsters from Aston Villa who went about it the right way. They were too clinical at times.

  6. 'He's sacrificed a lot'

    FT: Leeds 3-0 Crewe

Adam Forshaw played 60 minutes for Leeds tonight - his first game since September 2019 because of injury.

Here is what boss Marcelo Bielsa said about the midfielder after to night's win over Crewe...

  8. Post update

    FT: Nottingham Forest 0-4 Wolves

    Charlie Adam

Dundee midfielder on BBC Radio Scotland

Things haven’t happened for Wolves so far this season with a new manager and a different style. A result like this – when you play a lower league team you have to use that control and quality. The lads who came in tonight did the business. Hopefully it can give the players and staff a bit of momentum.

  9. 'Smith might think about using youngsters more often'

    FT: Barrow 0-6 Aston Villa

    Rob Green

Former England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

Dean Smith has always promoted youth. He grew up with it in his managerial career at Brentford. He’s doing the same at Villa. He gives them a chance. With the closing days of the window, they probably have a bit more money to spend but the players out there have given him a nudge that he can rely on them. He might think about using them more often.

  10. Post update

So that's all of Tuesday's Carabao Cup ties settled, and Crystal Palace are the only Premier League team to go out in the second round this evening. They lost away at Watford.

  11. FULL-TIME - Wycombe win on penalties

Stevenage 2-2 Wycombe (3-5 on penalties)

Ben Coker nets for Stevenage from the spot to put the pressure back on Wycombe. Tjay De Barr will send Gareth Ainsworth's side through if scores. And he sends the goalkeeper the wrong way!

    Wycombe progress 5-3 on penalties.

  12. PENALTY SHOOT-OUT

    Stevenage 2-2 Wycombe

Daryl Horgan finds the bottom corner for Wycombe, but Luther Wildin misses the target for Stevenage.

Oli Pendlebury has a chance to put the visitors 3-1 up in the shoot-out, and does. He finds the corner.

  13. FULL-TIME - Cheltenham win on penalties

Gillingham 1-1 Cheltenham (4-5 on penalties)

    The visitors win it!

Ellis Chapman has slotted in the winning penalty to send Cheltenham through to round three!

The only miss came in the second lot of spot-kicks, with poor Stuart O'Keefe seeing his effort saved.

Town didn't blink once in the shoot-out!

  14. FULL-TIME - Wigan win on penalties

Wigan 0-0 Bolton (Wigan win 5-4 on pens)

    How about that!

Wigan goalkeeper Jamie Jones steps up to take a penalty and thumps it into the roof of the net.

It leaves Nathan Delfouneso needing to score to draw Bolton back level.

But he fires over. Wigan are through to the third round.

  15. PENALTY SHOOT-OUT

    Stevenage 2-2 Wycombe

Joe Jacobson finds the bottom corner for Wycombe but Luke Norris levels for Stevenage. 1-1.

  16. FULL-TIME

    Nottingham Forest 0-4 Wolves

Wolves absolutely cruise into the third round of the EFL Cup with a rout at troubled Nottingham Forest.

  17. PENALTY SHOOT-OUT

    Wigan 0-0 Bolton

Wigan will take first and Max Power gets them up and running. Eoin Doyle levels for Bolton before Thelo Aasgaard fires the Latics back in front and Antoni Sarcevic makes it all square once more.

But then Jordan Jones' effort is saved. Can Kieran Lee take advantage? No! Still 2-2.

  18. FULL-TIME

    Brentford 3-1 Forest Green

Forest Green do themselves proud but Brentford turned it on in the second to reach round three.
