Norwich City could not have wished for a tougher return to life in the Premier League after being pitted against the past two champions - Liverpool and then Manchester City - in their opening two games and the Carabao Cup does not offer much relief for Daniel Farke's side.

The Canaries host Championship side Bournemouth at Carrow Road in a game which, while on paper should see them as favourites, leaves Farke in a predicament over whether to hold back his troops in the hope of getting a first league win on the board against Leicester on Saturday or to push for a potential cup run.

“I don't like to rotate too much in these games," said Farke. "Everyone knows when it comes to the cups I want to get to the next round. But for this game we have to do that.

“For two reasons. First, we have good depth in our squad and I want to use it. And the second is the interrupted pre-season.

“When you make more than three or four changes sometimes it is not healthy for the team performance but we have to take the risk.”
