Leeds youngster Cody Drameh gets to a 50-50 ball ahead of Gabriel Martinelli and catches the Arsenal frontman on the face with a stray arm.

I say catches, it was more of a stroke with his fingers but Martinelli went down like he was on the receiving end of a Tyson Fury hook in the eighth round.

Embarrassing.

Leeds break from the corner and in a flash they're into the Arsenal box.

Tyler Roberts can have a go with his left boot but decides to cut back onto his right and his shot deflects wide.

A few occasions Nicolas Pepe has found himself in a good position with the ball but has ended up getting tackled, having the ball get stuck under his feet or giving it away.

That's really poor.

Arsenal have not been able to get Emile Smith Rowe into the game so far.

The England youth international is getting a little frustrated, moving out to towards the right to see if he can get on the ball.

Now the other Armstrong - Stuart - has a shot that takes a slight deflection that Kepa has to react quickly to and prevent it squeezing in.

Big opportunity for Adam Armstrong! He reacts quickly to a loose ball inside the box but fires wide of goal from six yards out.

Southampton's best chance so far.

Ted: Positive start for both teams, you just think Arsenal just have the upper hand currently.

Leeds are building the pressure...

Leeds have had a couple of chances drop to them now from the last two corners.

This one is Daniel James' way but he has to wait for a spinning ball to stop before a deflected shot is gathered low down by Bernd Leno.

Another chance for Chelsea and another chance for Kai Havertz, who is starting to cause some real problems now.

He goes on a mazy run before driving a shot at goal that Fraser Forster does well to save.

That is a good save, he's so unsighted it comes through a load of bodies.

It's a great volley isn't it? Leno gets down really quickly. Good goalkeeping.

First clear-cut opportunity of the game falls Leeds' way and it is a superb reaction save from Bernd Leno, pushing away Jack Harrison's well-struck effort.

It came through a sea of bodies so Leno did well to stay aware and make the stop.

Sunderland defender Denver Hume was only making his fourth appearance of the season and he's been replaced through injury.

Teenager Dennis Cirkin is on.

Excellent goalkeeping from Illan Meslier, sharply off his line to get a clean punch on Cedric Soares' delivery.

Haven't seen too much of Callum Hudson-Odoi in this game but he's just put in a peach of a cross that was begging to be attacked but there was no Chelsea players in close proximity. A good opportunity wasted.

England centre-back Ben White brings the ball forward from the back, nicely done and he is hacked down on the halfway line, earning Leeds winger Tyler Roberts the first booking of the evening.

Twenty minutes into the game and it feels like this is the first real lull in the game.

Both sides have had good spells, Chelsea have had perhaps a few more opportunities but so far pretty even.

At the other end, Nicolas Pepe cuts on to his favoured left peg from the right but strikes a wild effort which nearly clips the corner flag.

For £72m, you expect a little better.
