"There are so many players who deserve minutes but we respect the level of competition. It is important they get the minutes and use them the right way to make things more difficult for us to make decisions and raise the level of the team.

"We are four games away from winning a title, so that should be a motivation."

Chelsea are flying high at the top of the Premier League at the moment and have won two of their three games in the Champions League so far.

However, the Blues' good form elsewhere doesn't mean boss Thomas Tuchel is going to neglect other competitions.

"I am not sure I have priorities because who says that we can select from the trophies?" the German said.

"I am more in the spirit right now that what I like about the team is when we play, we play and we push ourselves to the limit on this very special matchday - and this will be now on Tuesday against Southampton."

Sometimes they’ll press, sometimes they’ll drop off, there’s a lot more understanding now and confidence is high and you can only get that confidence through winning.

"Even the draws against Crystal Palace and Brighton, we dug in and that is what I’m seeing, the confidence getting higher and higher.

A trip to Craven Cottage to play Championship side Fulham followed in round three.

It finished 0-0 after 90 minutes so the game went to a penalty shoot-out. Stuart Dallas and Adam Forshaw both missed for Leeds, as did Fulham's Josh Onomah and Joe Bryan before Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier saved from Rodrigo Muniz to give the Premier League side a 6-5 victory.

This match against Arsenal is a repeat of the 1968 League Cup final, which Leeds won 1-0 - the only time they have won this competition.

Mikel Arteta's side started the 2021-22 campaign with two league defeats before they got their season up and running with a 6-0 demolition of Championship side West Brom in the second round.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang grabbed a hat-trick, with Nicolas Pepe, Bukayo Saka and Alexandre Lacazette also on target.
