Ole and Maguire not even close to United level. I'd take Jones over Maguire he's that bad. Ole being saved by lack of top managers available at the moment.

Service from the first half resumed. Southampton out of the blocks quicker than Usain Bolt, Nathan Redmond leading the attack and laying the ball out left to Moussa Djenepo.

The Malian winger has time and space but scuffs a shot which is easily gathered by Illan Meslier.

    HT: Leicester 1-1 Man Utd

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at The King Power Stadium

Fair to say Manchester United captain Harry Maguire is looking - and I'll be very kind here - a little ring rusty after his injury lay-off. He started in uncertain fashion when he sent his first touch out of play and has struggled with the pressure being applied by Kelechi Iheanacho.

He was at fault for Leicester City's goal when he was robbed by Iheanacho and he will be hoping he has got rid of that rust and can improve after the break.

Needless to say, the Leicester City fans who once idolised him are relishing every second of his struggles.

Meat pie, vegan roll, come on lads, give us a goal.

Take two at St Mary's, where both teams really could do with finding a winner.

Let's hope for a much better second half.

  8. Celebrating a Man City title triumph, 53 years onpublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 16 October 2021

    HT: Man City 1-0 Burnley

    Chris Bevan
    BBC Sport at Etihad Stadium

The fans here at Etihad Stadium have seen plenty of trophies and medals handed out on this pitch in the past decade but today some Manchester City players are receiving accolades for a success more than 50 years ago.

Four City players from their 1968 title-winning team are - finally - receiving their medals for their part in the triumph.

Bobby Kennedy, Stan Horne, Paul Hince and the late Harry Dowd did not receive medals at the time due to a smaller allocation being awarded by the Football League.

Horne, Kennedy and the sons of Hince and Dowd are on the pitch now, and being given exact replicas of the gongs their team-mates got. Definitely worth the wait.

Vardy and Maddison giving clear evidence in this match that English players can no longer claim to have the high ground when it comes to diving - throwing themselves around at every opportunity - unfortunately, it's working!

Liverpool striker Sadio Mane speaking to Match of the Day: "I am really happy and proud to score 100 goals in the Premier League which is not easy. Hopefully there will be more and we win trophies which is the aim.

"Without Roberto Firmino, it wouldn't be the same, in just a few years you can see his workrate, assists and work between the lines. People might not talk about him, but we know he is one of the best in the world.

"Mo is one of the best players in the world. That goal surprises you guys but we see it all the time in training. I think it was. All the credit to Mo for the pass for the goal."

  11. 'We will get better, I'm sure' - Ranieripublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 16 October 2021

    FT: Watford 0-5 Liverpool

    Watford

Watford manager Claudio Ranieri, speaking to BT Sport, on seeing his side thrashed in his first game at the helm: "I think we conceded too many chances to them, of course. Liverpool are a fantastic team. When I came I knew I had to work very hard. We gave them presents. We have to improve, I'm sure we can improve."

Is the job bigger than he thought? "No, no. When I came I knew everything. I watched something bad today, but I also saw some good bits. I know now my players. After watching them on television and in training sessions, seeing them play against a fantastic team, I know my players better.

"We have to work hard and slowly, slowly we will get better, I am sure.

"In the dressing room I told them we gave the maximum but we made mistakes and we have to improve. Maybe they were nervous at the beginning, because they were playing in a new culture and wanted to do better."

  12. 'Not quite a 10 out of 10 performance'published at 15:54 British Summer Time 16 October 2021

    FT: Watford 0-5 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp speaking to BBC Sport, on whether it was a 10 out of 10 performance from his team: "No, because of the period especially after 4-0 and after 1-0 as well. We found a way to hurt them but we lost balls in some moments. They had moments which they could have hurt us. It wasn't 10 out of 10. I don't know many nine out of 10 performances there have been in my career."

On Mohamed Salah: "He is phenomenal. For sure, in this moment he is the best player in the world. He is in top shape, he's doing pretty good and it's nice watching him. It was a top-class performance even without the goal. Naby Keita, James Milner... wow. That's why we won."

On the win breeding confidence before Tuesday's trip to Atletico Madrid and next weekend's match at Manchester United: "It was a very important win, of course, before a important week. We have two massive games - away games, by the way, which aren't nice but that's the situation. It helps when you are in good shape. Gaining confidence is absolutely helpful but each game is a different one obviously."

On how happy he is for Roberto Firmino: "Massively. We all are. The people are too, singing his song. He didn't play for a while and it isn't nice, we are all human beings. But he is an incredibly important player for us and that's why we are happy."

    Watford

    Claudio RanieriImage source, PA

Watford manager Claudio Ranieri speaking to Match of the Day: "We knew very well what happens. Liverpool are one of the best teams in the world and maybe the players were nervous and wanted to show the new manager. There were some bad things, but some good things. In the last 20 minutes we were toe to toe with Liverpool. I now know more about the players. We have had training, but now we have a game and the game is truth.

"It is a big job here, but if my players understand me it will get a little smaller. It will be OK. We are ready to work hard."
