    Southampton 0-0 Leeds United

Lovely stuff from Nathan Redmond. The Saints forward slaloms past Leeds defenders like they are Olympic alpine skiing markers, before feeding Oriol Romeu who shapes to shoot.

Opposing skipper Liam Cooper sniffs the danger and dives in to block the low shot.

That's the sort of one which stings for about five minutes on a cold Sunday winter's morning. Probably only for two minutes on a warm autumnal Hampshire afternoon, though.

  2. CLOSE!published at 15:28 British Summer Time 16 October 2021

    Leicester 0-1 Man Utd

To the other end and United come close to a second.

Jadon Sancho manages to stay onside and keep the ball in play before laying it off for Cristiano Ronaldo to dig out a shot which Kasper Schmeichel punches to safety.

In the next move, Paul Pogba sees a rasping drive deflect wide.

    Norwich 0-0 Brighton

Dan Burn tracks all the way back to keep pace with Teemu Pukki but concedes a corner.

Both Mathias Normann crosses are headed away before Robert Sanchez picks up a tame header from Grant Hanley.

Manchester United are moving the ball quicker than before; everybody is confident and they are looking to make things happen in behind the Leicester defence.

  5. CLOSE!published at 15:27 British Summer Time 16 October 2021

    Leicester 0-1 Man Utd

David de Gea thought it was in, so did half the King Power.

Leicester put together a lovely move, James Maddison clipping the ball over to Ricardo Pereira in the box and the full-back side-foots a cross-come-shot inches wide of the far post.

David: Leicester dominated, but Man U score from a completely individual goal. Utd have such a strong squad of players they’re always going to be able to get results despite the lack of any clear tactics or strategy.

shwanchalabi: I love Ole. But is our team individual brilliance what is keeping him in the job. Dose he get best out of the players ? No !!! The quality of our players improved alot in comparison to what previous managers had, yet I think we can do better with a better manager.

Saints well on top now. Right-back Valentino Livramento bursts forward and feeds Armando Broja, who hassles, harries and forces another home corner.

This time Leeds clear the initial ball into the box but only as far as Moussa Djenepo. He blasts into Row L though.

    Naughty.

Adam Lallana is beaten to the ball in midfield and drags back Teemu Pukki.

    No complaints over the yellow.

How fast did he hit that? Unbelievable. He absolutely cracks it from the right-hand side. Top corner, Schmeichel has no chance. That was unstoppable; two keepers wouldn't have stopped it.

  15. CLOSE!published at 15:22 British Summer Time 16 October 2021

    Norwich 0-0 Brighton

    Oooft!

It falls for Adam Lallana on the edge of the box and he thumps it straight back towards goal.

Tim Krul reacts well to make the block and is up on his feet within a split-second to prevent Neal Maupay on the rebound.

Almost the opener! Broja nips to the front post to flick another header which can't be turned in at the far post by Mohamed Elyounoussi.

    Close but not close enough...

  20. goal

GOAL - Leicester 0-1 Man Utdpublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 16 October 2021

    Mason Greenwood (18 mins)

    What a hit that is!

A sensational strike from Mason Greenwood.

Leicester had warning signs when he exchanged passes with Bruno Fernandes a few minutes ago and the two link up again.

Greenwood cuts in from the right, plays a one-two before arrowing an unstoppable, left-footed strike into the top corner of the net.

Kasper Schmeichel need not have dived, he wouldn't have saved it even if he had his dad Peter helping him with a ladder.
