"You can't take off the nine years I spent here. Like I said before I was part of a really good generation of players. To have that kind of reception I will be really pleased."

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta says Patrick Vieria will fully deserve a hero's welcome when he emerges from the tunnel in around 15 minutes.

"It will be a deserved welcome back to the club after what he did," he tells Sky Sports.

Crystal Palace have won just one game so far this season but it was certainly an eye-catching one as they beat Tottenham 3-0.

Their only defeats have been against Chelsea and Liverpool so the key now for Patrick Vieria is turning draws into wins.

Three points tonight against Arsenal would be big for a number of reasons for the Palace boss.

Patrick Vieira says he is relishing an "emotional" return to Arsenal but is focused on Crystal Palace's need for Premier League points.

The French World Cup winner won three Premier League titles and four FA Cups with the Gunners and captained that 'Invincibles' side of 2003-04.

"That is the club where I played my best football I would say," Vieira said. "So obviously going back there will be emotional, but I will put that on the side because it will be important for us to perform well and to get points.

"It's about controlling yourself as a manager and controlling the emotion."

Just a couple of months ago Arsenal were one of the most backed teams, external to be relegated after a poor start to the season.

Fast forward to now, though, and Mikel Arteta's side are unbeaten in five games in all competitions, having won four of their last five.

Win tonight and they will move to within a point of the top six.

All good at the Gunners now?

A big blow for Crystal Palace as Wilfried Zaha misses out tonight.

Christian Benteke takes his place, the only change from their 2-2 draw with Leicester before the international break.

Crystal Palace: Guaita, Gueye, Andersen, Ward, Mitchell, McArthur, Milivojevic, Gallagher, Ayew, Benteke, Edouard.

Subs: Butland, Tomkins, Olise, Kouyate, Hughes, Mateta, Schlupp, Clyne, Kelly.

Arsenal also make one change as Nicolas Pepe replaces Albert Sambi Lokonga, who drops to the bench.

Gabriel Martinelli was a doubt with a minor muscle injury but he's one of the subs today.

Arsenal: Ramsdale, White, Gabriel, Tomiyasu, Tierney, Partey, Odegaard, Smith Rowe, Pepe, Saka, Aubameyang.

Subs: Leno, Lacazette, Maitland-Niles, Holding, Soares, Tavares, Sambi Lokonga, Elneny, Martinelli.

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

I like the way Crystal Palace have come together under Patrick Vieira, and their pressing playing style is very effective too.

This is a big moment for Vieira, who is taking his new team back to his old club. He will get a great reception but Arsenal are on a roll and I think they will create enough chances to win this one quite comfortably.

    Prediction: 2-0

That early 2000s Arsenal side was great, wasn't it?

I'm talking specifically about the famed Invincibles - the Gunners side that went unbeaten in the Premier League in the 2003-04 season.

Think of that team and you think of the likes of Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Robert Pires and Patrick Vieria.

The latter returns to Arsenal tonight for the first time as manager. Will it be a happy return for the Crystal Palace boss, or will Arsenal continue their improving form with a victory?
