Regarding the red cards in Leicester and City games. It's all about clear and obvious errors. If the ref yellow carded Laporte, I think they would have stuck with that decision.

    Newcastle 0-0 Chelsea

Chelsea have come out swinging. Hakim Ziyech's shot deflects off Jamaal Lascelles and on to the post with Karl Darlow only able to watch ion helplessly.

    Man City 0-1 Crystal Palace

No changes for Man City despite that red card for Aymeric Laporte. They certainly can't weaken their team further up the pitch with the need to score to get back into this.

    Liverpool 2-1 Brighton

A busy start to this second half.

Solly March backheels the ball into the path of Adam Lallana, who glides into the box and then has a shot saved between the legs of Alisson.

Newcastle fans should be jumping for joy; they've effectively entered a cheat code to avoid relegation this year. That's where they should be though, Championship. Awful football. Imagine paying to see it.

  7. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

    Liverpool 2-1 Brighton

Mohamed Salah has the ball in the net... but it's ruled out.

He runs onto Sadio Mane's through ball, rounds the keeper and slots home...

But he was just offside as Mane played the ball.

The second 45 minutes of these games have a big job on their hands to outdo the first lot. We can hold out hope, though.

We are back under way in the four other games.

    Liverpool 2-1 Brighton

The second half has started quite early at Anfield.

Brighton win a corner early in the second half as Leandro Trossard's cross is headed behind by Sadio Mane.

Alisson flaps at Solly March's corner and Mohamed Salah hacks it away.

Ritchie: It's alright people asking why one foul was a yellow and one was a red, but they were two different matches so therefore two different referees. There's always going to be differences.

Kev: Two more red cards at least in the City game I feel!

The half-time whistle brought a lot of pushing and shoving.

Ederson was booked for his involvement and Bernardo Silva had to be dragged away from the officials by a member of Pep Guardiola's backroom team.

Bernardo then somewhat sarcastically tapped the assistant referee on the shoulder as if to say 'well done'.

    Interesting second half coming up.

Brighton's Enock Mwepu is the second Zambian player to score a Premier League goal.

The first was only two weeks ago - Patson Daka in Leicester's 4-2 home win against Manchester United.

Interesting comparison to be made between Aymeric Laporte's foul on Wilfried Zaha and the Jonny Evans one on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the first game of the day. Very similar, but one is deemed a yellow and the other red.

It's the inconsistency that infuriates fans the most.

If Laporte was sent off then why wasn't Jonny Evans sent off for Leicester earlier? Same challenge.

    Tom, North Wales

Laporte's red was no different to the one in the Arsenal game when the Leicester player got a yellow as it was so far out. Joke.

    Man City 0-1 Crystal Palace

    Simon Stone

Wilfried Zaha was a long way out. But it was a foul and Aymeric Laporte was the last man.

A lone fan in the posh seats has just shouted an obscenity.

Referee Andre Marriner has his work cut out here.

  17. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

    Man City 0-1 Crystal Palace

It is very bad tempered now. Wilfried Zaha is in the thick of it again, going down to earn his side a free-kick. It comes to nothing but another flare up just before the half-time whistle earns the Palace man a booking.

Fair to say that Zaha is not a popular man around these parts.

Excellent game. Liverpool took control by sweeping into a 2-0 lead but Brighton are giving this a right good go. Great goals and incidents. More of the same in the second half, please.

Maxwel Cornet - the least likely Sean Dyche signing ever - has scored four goals in four Premier League starts.

Surely they are heading for their first Premier League win of the season.
