  1. Lawro's predictionpublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

    Newcastle v Chelsea (15:00 BST)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

Newcastle have played all the teams from 13th to 18th in the Premier League and not beaten any of them so I really don't give them much hope of getting their first win of the season against one of the title contenders, Chelsea.

The Magpies have a glimmer of hope in that Callum Wilson is back fit and scoring for them but, even without Romelu Lukaku leading the line, Chelsea should win this comfortably.

    Prediction: 0-2

Man City v Crystal Palace (15:00 BST)

Palace can equal the club record of five consecutive league draws. They have done this on three occasions but never in the top flight.

Crystal Palace's only Premier League away win in 10 attempts came at Sheffield United in May.

The Eagles could concede two or more goals in seven consecutive Premier League away games for the first time.

Ten of Palace's 11 league goals this season have been scored in the second half, the highest ratio in the division. Their only first-half goal came in stoppage time.

  3. City looking goodpublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

Man City v Crystal Palace (15:00 BST)

Manchester City are unbeaten in the league since the opening weekend of the season (W6, D2).

They have conceded in just three of their nine top-flight games.

Pep Guardiola's side are yet to concede a goal at home in the Premier League so far this season.

City have gone 11 Premier League matches without conceding a first-half goal.

City's only defeat in their last 50 league fixtures at 3pm on a Saturday was by 3-2 at home to Crystal Palace in December 2018 (W43, D6).

  4. 'The awful start cost us'published at 14:51 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

    FT: Leicester 0-2 Arsenal

    Leicester City

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers to BT Sport: "It was an awful start to the game. We spoke before hand that it was important to get the crowd going but we were so passive. We made it far too easy. We can defend both goals better.

"First one I'm disappointed in the referee - it was a foul and the game gets played on, which leads to a corner. We should defend it better. We can be much better. Two really really soft goals.

"It wasn't a great start but we had chances in the first half. Their keeper made a great save but at 2-0 we had to do something in the game. Second half we were much the better team. The keeper made great saves but you rue the start - that's what cost you.

"At times we have to defend better, the two goals today were soft. They get through the pitch too easily. Apart from that Kasper [Schmeichel] didn't have much to do.

"The club is absolutely brilliant for a manager to be here and develop players. We can compete and that's what we always want to do. Great bunch of players that will develop and we keep fighting to improve and try to get to the" next level."

  5. 'These are the games you want to play in'published at 14:50 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

Man City v Crystal Palace (15:00 BST)

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace's on-loan Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher to BBC Sport: "It’s going to be a very tough game – City are obviously one of the best teams in the world but we are going to give it our best shot and we are excited about the game. It’s going to be a good test and hopefully we can get a result.

"I feel like we’ve been unlucky with some of our results. I feel like we should have more points than what we have – it’s positive because I feel like we are performing well but it’s important to get points on the board.

"These are the games you want to play in – you want to play against the best to see where you’re at, it’s a top level so we have to work our hardest and see how we can do."

  6. Pep wants to welcome Guido back to Etihadpublished at 14:49 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

Man City v Crystal Palace (15:00BST)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport at the Etihad Stadium

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been talking in his programme notes about fan Guido de Pauw, who ended up in hospital in Belgium after being attacked following the Champions League game in Bruges a fortnight ago.

"I want to say how delighted we all are to hear Guido is stable and recovering," said Guardiola.

"Our thoughts are still with him and his family.

"We all hope he can make a full recovery. It would be so good to see him back here at the Etihad at some stage in the future.

"He and his family would be so welcome."

  7. 'We have struggled at home against Palace' -published at 14:49 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

Man City v Crystal Palace (15:00 BST)

    Manchester City

Man City boss Pep Guardiola speaking to BBC Sport about today's milestone, his 200th Premier League game as manager: "We have been here many years now - normally, if you don't get results you are sacked, but we have got them and that's why we have stayed here. It's nice, it means the club has done really well.

"We have struggled at home against Crystal Palace under Roy Hodgson in previous seasons but they played differently then - they defend, sat back and used the counter-attack and set-pieces.

"They can do that as well right now but I think now they try to play from the back, they really use the pockets well with Zaha and Ayew and they have quality up front. We will see how they play but they always have good quality."

  8. 'We have to be brave'published at 14:48 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

Man City v Crystal Palace (15:00 BST)

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira, speaking to BBC Sport: "We have to be really compact and we will have to break on them in the counter-attack because we know it will be difficult for us to have possession. We will have to work hard.

"We have to be brave - we have seen many teams coming here with different approaches and it is always difficult to come to the Etihad and try to impose yourself. But we have to respect our gameplan and make it really difficult for them.

"If we believe in ourselves, if we are brave, we will give them trouble."

  9. Lawro's predictionpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

Man City v Crystal Palace (15:00 BST)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

Manchester City's run of League Cup triumphs has ended at four in a row - the same number I managed with Liverpool.

I don't think City boss Pep Guardiola will be too bothered about losing to West Ham on Wednesday, do you?

Sure, he likes winning as many trophies as possible but now City will have three midweeks off in December and January, when in those previous seasons they've played twice a week virtually the whole way through. They will welcome that rest.

Crystal Palace have been playing quite well, but drawing games. They will have to produce something exceptional to get anything here.

    Prediction: 3-0

    Liverpool v Brighton (15:00 BST)

    Neil Johnston
    BBC Sport at Anfield

Brighton started the weekend in fifth spot but are without a win in their past five league and cup games.

Despite that stuttering run it's been an impressive start by Graham Potter's men who have 15 points from nine games - five more than they had after 10 games last season.

The Seagulls won at an empty Anfield last season, but Potter says he is expecting a "completely different animal" in front of a full house.

Asked about Mo Salah, who has 10 goals in nine league games, Potter said: "He's not world class, he's out-of-this-world class."

Everyone here is talking about how good it feels to be back at Anfield for the first time since 3 October.

Since then the Liverpool fans have had four tremendous away wins in a row to celebrate from afar, so expectations couldn't be higher today - but in his programme notes Jurgen Klopp is stressing that nobody behind the scenes is getting carried away, saying "we are never satisfied".

Saqub: Superb performance and result by Arsenal in beating Leicester. Outstanding goalkeeping from Ramsdale ensured a clean sheet was achieved. Well done Arsenal! Top four now looks a possibility. Credit to Arteta too.

Azrael: Decent win for Arsenal. Three points in a very tough game against tough opposition.

  14. 'Ramsdale save was incredible'published at 14:45 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

    FT: Leicester 0-2 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to BT Sport: "I was really happy, against a top team. It is really hard to come here and win. The way we did it - we had to come here and suffer and we managed the game really well in the second half."

On goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale's save from James Maddison's free-kick: "I have just seen the pictures, it was incredible. He saved them both. Those moments, the individual actions they are needed.

"We created a lot of issues for them. We carried on playing after 1-0 and scored the second. We knew they would change and get at us. There were moments we didn't manage situations well enough but in the last 20 minutes we modified things and got control back in the game.

"We need to carry on. We haven't done anything - we won a couple of matches and we want to improve. There are a lot of positives but there are a lot of things to improve."

  15. 'I'll be forever grateful for what Lallana did'published at 14:44 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

    Liverpool v Brighton (15:00 BST)

Nice words from Jurgen Klopp in the matchday programme on Adam Lallana who the Reds boss describes as "one of the founding fathers of the success this current Liverpool side has enjoyed in recent seasons".

Lallana featured in Brighton's win over Liverpool at Anfield last season, but this will be his first return since leaving in July 2020 that he has played in front of Reds fans.

"I hope either side of the game there will be an opportunity for us all to show appreciation to Adam for his contribution," writes Klopp.

"I personally will forever be grateful for what he did when with us."

Lallana spent six years at Liverpool making more than 120 Premier League appearances.

Brighton have gone four Premier League matches without a win.

However, the Seagulls remain unbeaten in their four away league games this season - it's their longest run from the start of a top-flight season (W2, D2).

The 18 goals scored in Brighton's Premier League fixtures this season is a joint-low with Wolves.

  17. Liverpool's best run since the 1980s?published at 14:43 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

    Liverpool v Brighton (15:00 BST)

Liverpool could go 24 matches unbeaten in all competitions for the first time since 1989.

The Reds can also make it 20 Premier League games without defeat since a 1-0 home defeat against Fulham in March (W14, D5).

Liverpool's tally of 27 goals in nine league fixtures is their best at this stage of a top-flight campaign since scoring 28 in 1987-88.

Jurgen Klopp is one short of 200 victories in charge of Liverpool in all competitions.

This is only the second time Anfield has hosted a 3pm Saturday start this season and there is a great atmosphere building as kick-off approaches.

The tunes are helping. We've had 'Call Me' by Blondie, U2's 'Where The Streets Have No Name' and Mo Salah's favourite - 'Sit Down' by James.

Surely they're going to play ELO's Mr Blue Sky as Anfield basks in glorious autumn sunshine.
