That's the only goal in the division at the moment.

  10. Will Sutton get first League Two win?published at 14:56 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

The game of the weekend is happening in Salford. No, not Manchester United v Newcastle; Salford City are hosting Bradford.

These two pre-season favourites haven't found the form that many were predicting, but a win for either side could kick-start a promotion bid.

Elsewhere, it's not looking good for Oldham Athletic. Second-bottom in the table, they've been booed off in almost all their home games this season - could they give their supporters something to cheer about on the pitch by nicking a result away at Leyton Orient?

And will Sutton United finally get their first win in the EFL? Today might be the day as they face a Stevenage side winless in six in all competitions.

  11. League Two fixturespublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

    • Rochdale v Tranmere Rovers

  12. Crunch ties in League Onepublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

    SunderlandImage source, Rex Features

Is this the year Sunderland finally leave League One? They've had a fast start to the season, sitting top with 12 points from five games. But now comes a real test as they host Accrington Stanley, the team second in the table, level on points with the Black Cats.

Another team looking up is Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's Burton Albion. They can break into the top two with a win over struggling Gillingham.

Sheffield Wednesday dropped down to fourth after a defeat by Morecambe in their last league match, but they'll be targeting a win at mid-table Plymouth this afternoon.

And at the bottom, it's a huge six-pointer for Crewe and Shrewsbury. The pair - who are both stuck in the relegation places - meet in Staffordshire.

Some big, big fixtures coming up.

  14. Can blunt Blades finally find cutting edge?published at 14:49 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

Sheff Utd v Peterborough (15:00 BST)

    Bramall LaneImage source, Rex Features

It's been a rough start to the season for one of the Championship promotion favourites Sheffield United.

Five league games into the season the Blades have taken just two points and scored a paltry one goal.

Wolves forward Morgan Gibbs-White has joined on loan for the rest of the season and comes straight into the starting XI, while fellow new arrival Conor Hourihane is on the bench after joining on a similar deal from Aston Villa.

Today they face a Peterborough side who are adjusting to life back in the second tier after promotion last season.

Striker Jonson Clarke-Harris bagged 33 goals in 49 appearances in all competitions last season but he's yet to hit the back of the net so far this campaign.

    FT: Birmingham 2-0 Derby

    BirminghamImage source, Rex Features

As is often the case, the EFL weekend started on Friday night.

Birmingham claimed a 2-0 home win over Derby in the Championship to go up to fourth in the table and continue their excellent start to the campaign.

There were also two matches in League Two, where league leaders Harrogate had to settle for a point from a 2-2 draw with Newport and Colchester won 3-2 at Barrow in a game that has sadly been overshadowed by an allegation of racist abuse aimed at Colchester goalkeeper Shamal George.

Blackburn and Luton have both made pretty solid starts to the campaign and they meet today at Ewood Park.

Bristol City took a 2-1 victory at rivals Cardiff last time out and they'll be hoping to pick up where they left off when they host a Preston side who have won three on the bounce.

Coventry have won both of their home league games this season and they'll be looking to make it three in a row against Neil Warnock's Middlesbrough.

Two of the early-season surprise packages meet at the Bet365 Stadium where Stoke host Huddersfield, with both teams sitting on 10 points from five matches.

Also on the same number of points from five games are Swansea and Hull City, although they've only claimed four points from their first handful of games. New Swans boss Russell Martin will hope his new charges, beaten play-off finalists last season, can find their rhythm.

    Reading v QPR (15:00 BST)

Reading v QPRImage source, PA Media

Reading were the early pacesetters in the Championship last season, but 2021 has not been too kind to the Royals.

Veljko Paunovic's men finished seven points adrift of the play-offs earlier this year, and have recorded just two wins in their past 16 league games.

The Berkshire club have lost four of their five games this season, and could suffer a fourth successive defeat today.

QPR travel in fine form, looking to continue their unbeaten start which has brought them three wins in their past four.

After three games over the international break for Scotland, Lyndon Dykes misses out for the visitors.

  18. Baggies making promising startpublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

West Brom v Millwall (15:00 BST)

West Bromwich Albion are keeping pace with Fulham at the top of the table, and only trail the Craven Cottage outfit on goal difference.

The Baggies also appointed a new manager this summer in the shape of former Barnsley boss Valerien Ismael, and they've taken well to the Frenchman.

Albion have had the most shots (87) and faced the fewest attempts (35) in the Championship.

Today's visitors Millwall recorded their first league win of the season at Blackpool before the international break.

The Lions lost the two before that, and haven't kept a clean sheet in nine Championship outings.

  19. Mitrovic leads Fulham chargepublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

    Blackpool v Fulham (15:00 BST)

Aleksandar Mitrovic celebrates a goal for FulhamImage source, Rex Features

Fulham lead the way in the Championship as the west London club aim to secure an immediate return to the Premier League.

Marco Silva took over from Scott Parker in the summer, and the Portuguese has the Whites ticking over nicely and hunting a fifth successive win.

Aleksandar Mitrovic is their talisman, netting in his past four league outings, but precocious teenager Fabio Carvalho misses out through injury.

Blackpool are still finding their feet following promotion last season, and await their first victory of the campaign.

It's three defeats in four for Neil Critchley's men, while the Tangerines haven't won any of their past 23 outings at this level stretching back to 2014-15.
