It's a beautifully worked move from Reading, razor sharp passing to put Dele-Bashiru in but Joe Lumley was out sharply to save.

In the derby of three letter acronyms, it was West Bromwich Albion who came out on top against early in-form side Queens Park Rangers.

Andre Gray had given the Hoops an early lead, but the Baggies bounced back in the second half when Karlan Grant scored twice late on to turn the game.

Happy with that Reading fans? How about the Boro contingent?

The Royals didn't look unduly concerned despite their defensive reshuffle this week, and in John Swift and Alen Halilovic they do have creative outlets.

Boro have been left-side heavy, with Isaiah Jones a major impact at present. Marcus Tavernier needs to impose himself more, if Boro are to unlock this game.

Honours even at the half-way stage.

Neither side can say they were particularly effective in attack, but there was lots of nice build up play, and two sides who got stuck in.

Overall, a reasonable first 45 minutes. Goals would be nice though.

Isaiah Jones gets a booking after a coming together with Dejan Tetek down the right. Tables turned.

The Reading full-back was galloping on. It looked harsh.

From the free-kick, the shot is blocked but then Martin Payero slides in on John Swift and other free-kick is given.

It was poor. Ball into the channel which no one had picked up.

Most of the talk about Reading has focused on John Swift so far but Alen Halilovic is also a useful creative outlet.

He picks up space on the edge of the box and tries to slide Junior Hoilett in but the Canada international doesn't time his run and he's offside.

Wild shank from Boro striker Andraz Sporar after Jonny Howson's driving run pushed him into space on the left.

However, the ball just pulled him wide and he couldn't wrap his foot round it.

Boro keep up pressure following a set-piece and keep the big boys such as Dael Fry and Paddy McNair up while retaining possession.

The ball is swept in, looking to pick up some interest from those towering presences but nothing doing.

The latest episode of the Jones-Tetek tussle ends in a draw again.

Jones gets away first but Tetek recovers to make the challenge.

Martin Payero and Marcus Tavernier work a short corner routine but it's cleared very easily by Reading's defensive unit.

Reading putting their foot down now.

Then John Swift rattles a low drive from the edge of the box which is also blocked.

Boro getting bodies in the way.

Another chance for Middlesbrough. Diagonal to the back-post picks out Isaiah Jones, but with an acute angle he has to cut back and Luke Southwood takes it simply in the Royals goal.

Andraz Sporar picks the ball up in the Reading half for Boro after a long-ball forward from the hosts is not retained, and slips a pass to Marcus Tavernier.

The Teessiders playmaker tries to return the favour with a through-ball for the Slovene, but it outruns him.

Tavernier does similar to deny Abdul Rahman-Baba at the other, as Reading hare forward.

Andy Yiadom makes a block tackle on Isaiah Jones as he dances into the box. Key challenge.

The ball isn't cleared, Boro applying some pressure but eventually give away a free-kick.

Jones is the main outlet and almost got in just then.

John Swift has already shown he has TNT in his boots at set-pieces this season but that one for Reading wasn't in his supreme collection.

It was a chance.

John Swift flicks the ball deliciously over Jonny Howson and gets the Royals away down the left.

Boro clear but Alen Halilovic picks out Swift in the box all on his own and he fires a low shot which is saved by Joe Lumley.

Swift is then lopped down. Edge of the box. Free-kick.

Matt Crooks forces Luke Southwood into a panicked clearance and Boro have a throw in a good position.

The Teessiders get the ball into the box but it's an easy mop up and now Reading hit on the break.

However, the final pass from Alen Halilovic on the right is disappointing but the Royals played through the lines and got in behind there.

Middlesbrough just starting to find their groove, moving the ball wide down both flanks and retaining possession for consistent pressure.

Reading's back four has been stretched, pulled and cajoled by Boro, but to be fair, Luke Southwood has seldom been troubled since Matt Crooks' header was ruled out.
