Out of nowhere. What a finish!

Pernille Harder picks up the ball on the halfway line and just keeps running. She's got Jackie Groenen and Maria Thorisdottir on her coattails but she holds the pair of them off before dinking the ball over Mary Earps and into the back of the net.

    Man Utd 0-1 Chelsea

Katie Zelem plays a brilliant ball forward for Lucy Staniforth, but her touch lets her down and it's another wasted chance for Man Utd.

  3. 'Big-name clearout'published at 12:53 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    Man Utd 0-1 Chelsea

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
    Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC Two

A clearout of big names can really galvanise a team.

Losing Tobin Heath and Christen Press in the summer could have gone one of two ways.

Mark Skinner is a great coach but he's also a wonderful manager of people. He knows how to look after his players and really move them forward.

The game has settled a bit now after that electric start from Chelsea. Man Utd have had more of the ball recently, but haven't done much to trouble the defending champions yet. The hosts are yet to have a shot on target.

  5. Postpublished at 19 mins

    Man Utd 0-1 Chelsea

Kirsty Hanson cuts outside and makes a great run down the right. Leah Galton makes the run into the box, but Hanson's ball goes beyond the danger area and out for a throw.

  6. 'Battle'published at 12:48 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    Man Utd 0-1 Chelsea

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
    Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC Two

Interesting to see Katie Zelem going in strongly in the middle of the park. I'm certainly not against a bit of physicality in there.

I guess we'll find out who is up for the battle.

  7. Postpublished at 15 mins

    Man Utd 0-1 Chelsea

Ona Batlle leaves Niamh Charles for dust down the left and gets in a decent cross, but it doesn't get past Millie Bright and the England defender clears the danger.

    Man utd 0-1 Chelsea

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
    Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC Two

Hannah Blundell will have a point to prove today. She was not preferred at right back for Chelsea over a couple of seasons. She's a great professional and has been most welcome for Man Utd. She'll be determined to show that she's good enough to be a starter in the WSL.

  9. Kirby's half century of goalspublished at 12:45 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    Man Utd 0-1 Chelsea

Fran Kirby's 50th WSL goal means she moves to third in the competition's all-time scoring charts behind Vivianne Miedema (63) and Ellen White (54).

Amazing especially given her injury troubles and her recovery from illness.

  10. 'So good' Kerrpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    Man Utd 0-1 Chelsea

    Kelly Smith
Former England striker on BBC Two

For Chelsea, Sam Kerr and Fran Kirby’s partnership has been fantastic. Kerr’s movement in the box is so good, she’s alert, she’s first onto all ricochets. She’s proved her worth in terms of the goals she has scored and is such a threat.

  11. Postpublished at 8 mins

Another chance for Chelsea as the ball falls to Sam Kerr who hits it on the volley, but it's off target and behind for a goal kick.

  12. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Man Utd 0-1 Chelsea

Man Utd's first real attack ends with Lucy Staniforth lifting a high ball towards the far post, but she puts too much on it and Leah Galton can't get anywhere near it.

  13. 'Couldn't have been easier'published at 12:36 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    Man Utd 0-1 Chelsea

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
    Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC Two

It was on the cards. Man Utd have caused themselves so many problems.

Yes, they may want to play out from the back but that might want to change that philosophy in the face of a pumped-up Sam Kerr and Fran Kirby.

They never got out of trouble there and it couldn't have been an easier 50th goal for Fran Kirby in the WSL.

    What a start for Chelsea!

Sam Kerr nicks the ball after some sloppy Man Utd defending and she squares it to Fran Kirby who taps in from close range.

That's the England international's 50th WSL goal and she won't get a much easier finish than that!

Man Utd manager Mark Skinner speaking on BBC Two: "We want perfection. People say it isn’t possible but we want more goals, we want to keep winning.

Man Utd v Chelsea (12:30 BST)

    Fara Williams
Former England and GB international on BBC Two

International breaks are difficult for clubs. They probably wouldn’t have been able to get on the pitch and do stuff - it'll mainly have been classroom-based.

But I don’t think tactics will have changed much – it’ll be interesting to see who copes best with it.

  20. 'Chance to show progress'published at 12:27 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

Man Utd v Chelsea (12:30 BST)

    Fara Williams
Former England and GB international on BBC Two

Appointing Mark Skinner was a step in the right direction. Casey Stoney set the foundations and he can build on it. He’s a fantastic coach and he’ll want points from this to show the progress he’s been making.
