  1. 10-man Celtic show Rangers the waypublished at 19:38 British Summer Time 19 August 2021

    Rangers v Alashkert (20:00)

Alashkert's last visit to Scotland - in July 2018 - did not go so well.

Goals from Odsonne Edouard, James Forrest and Callum McGregor in Yerevan gave Brendan Rodgers' Celtic victory in the first leg of their Champions League first qualifying round before they completed the formalities in Glasgow.

Moussa Dembele's quick-fire double and another from Forrest did not tell the full story of how comfortable it was for the home side considering they played 79 minutes with 10 men after Jozo Simunovic's early red card.

Alashkert appear to have declined as a force since then.

  2. Good times in Tayside for Alashkertpublished at 19:36 British Summer Time 19 August 2021

    Rangers v Alashkert (20:00)

Alashkert have been to Scotland before - and they will have pleasant memories of their trip to Perth in July 2015.

The Armenians brought a 1-0 first-leg lead to McDiarmid Park and managed to squeeze through on away goals after a 2-1 defeat, drawing level on the night after going down to 10 men.

Apologies for bringing that up Saints fans - now you can get back to cheering your team on for the final 10 minutes.

    LASK 1-1 St Johnstone

A stretching Callum Booth can't quite reach a deep cross with his head but it means the St Johnstone left-back is in the perfect position to block a powerful volley from Hong, who was sneaking in at the back post.

  4. Rangers take heart from Europa League formpublished at 19:32 British Summer Time 19 August 2021

    Rangers v Alashkert (20:00)

Rangers suffered a disappointing loss to Malmo in their first Champions League qualifying campaign in a decade.

But the Ibrox side has enjoyed the Europa League since Steven Gerrard took over, reaching the last 16 in their last two campaigns.

A play-off against Alashkert of Armenia looks like a comfortable draw.

  5. Postpublished at 19:30 British Summer Time 19 August 2021

    LASK 1-1 St Johnstone

Saints skipper Jason Kerr is up to flick on a long throw from Shaun Rooney but the keeper gets there to collect before Chris Kane.

St Johnstone goalscorer Chris Kane takes a kick in the chops for his troubles as he is felled while battling for possession just inside the LASK half.

He checks that he hasn't lost a tooth, then he's back up on his feet.

    LASK 1-1 St Johnstone

The hosts add fresh legs as we enter the last 20 minutes in Austria.

Callum Davidson is yet to look to his bench, although goalkeeper Elliot Parish is going through a rigorous warm-up.

    Rangers v Alashkert (20:00)

A wee boost for fans before kick-off at Ibrox.

I wonder if the Curacao international will be out for a wave at some stage this evening?

Zander Clark is hobbling a bit after taking a knock when racing out to mop up. It will take more than that to force the Saints keeper off.

Middleton then takes a heavy touch as he tries to round Alexander Schlager.

  14. Six changes for Rangerspublished at 19:10 British Summer Time 19 August 2021

    Rangers v Alashkert (20:00)

As expected, Rangers manager Steven Gerrard makes sweeping changes to the side that eased aside Dunfermline Athletic 5-0 in Friday's domestic League Cup last 16.

Two are forced, with midfielder Glen Kamara and striker Kemar Roofe still serving European suspensions.

Allan McGregor returns in goal in place of Jon McLaughlin, captain James Tavernier is back at at right-back, Filip Helander is in central defence, Steven Davis and Ryan Kent in midfield, with Alfredo Morelos up front.

Nathan Patterson, Jack Simpson and Scott Wright are the others to drop out.

Alashkert head coach Aleksandr Grigoryan retains only two players from their 2-0 domestic league home defeat by Van - goalkeeper Ognjen Cancarevic and winger Aghvan Papikyan.

  18. FULL-TIME Qarabag 1-0 Aberdeenpublished at 19:00 British Summer Time 19 August 2021

That free-kick was the last kick of the ball.

Aberdeen will fancy their chances of turning this round at Pittodrie, although losing a soft-ish goal will be a source of frustration.

And a bad-looking injury for Andrew Considine will leave a sour note.
