It's early days, but the cream is already rising to the top.

Hibs, Aberdeen and Hearts missed the chance to establish a clear lead at the top but remain level with today's draws, with the big two, Celtic and Rangers, now tucked in behind after their early stumbles.

Livingston fans won't want reminding that their side are the only ones without a point so far.

  4. Morelos 'sensational'published at 17:47 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

Everybody knows that Alfredo Morelos can score goals. I think his link-up play was something he had to get better at, but I thought he was sensational today at holding the ball up and bringing people into the game. It's the best I've seen him for a long, long time

  5. Gerrard pleased as Rangers show 'lot of quality'published at 17:44 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    FT: Ross County 2-4 Rangers

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard had told his players to "wake up" after an indifferent start to the season ahead of their win over Ross County and is "a lot more happy today".

"That was much more like us in terms of how it looked both in and out of possession," he tells Rangers TV.

"You can see what we are trying to do out of possession quite clearly. We were really organised at times - okay, we are still trying to fine-tune that and waiting to get the full squad back in and settled, so we will get better in that department - but I thought we showed a lot of quality.

"We created a lot and it could have been one or two more. So, going forward, we looked really dangerous."

  6. Europe to dictate Dons signingspublished at 17:42 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

FT: Heart of Midlothian 1-1 Aberdeen

Aberdeen manager Stephen Glass, who lost wing-back Jonny Hayes and forward Connor McLennan to injury today, admits his side are a bit stretched ahead of their return Conference League play-off with Qarabag.

"We've got Thursday night coming up and that might dictate some of the finances as well, but we get through Thursday and Sunday and see where we are and what we need," he says.

"If we bring people in, it'll be the right people. We won't just bring in squad fillers.

"I know there's a lot on the line on Thursday, but we'll just focus on trying to win on the pitch."

  7. Courts not convinced by Pawlett sending offpublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

FT: St Johnstone 0-1 Dundee United

More from Dundee United manager Thomas Courts after his matchwinner, Peter Pawlett, was sent off.

"I was more frustrated by the first booking," he says. "He got booked for an over exuberant celebration, but from where I was standing, I didn't see it as pushing the boundaries.

"Secondly, he's known to be a really quick dribbler. There was a touch. The referee's clearly missed that.

"It's something we'll go away and review."

  8. Saints 'not quite there' - Davidsonpublished at 17:33 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

FT: St Johnstone 0-1 Dundee United

St Johnstone manager Callum Davidson suggests the exertions from Thursday's draw with LASK may have hampered his side.

"I thought it was a really tough game," he tells BBC Scotland. "Dundee United tried to play some really good football at times, so did my team.

"For us, we lacked a little bit of quality and a bit of zip. I don't know if that was a hangover from Thursday night. We weren't quite there today."

  9. United 'tremendous' - Courtspublished at 17:30 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

FT: St Johnstone 0-1 Dundee United

Dundee United manager Thomas Courts is a happy man after his side's second win on the spin and dedicates the game to his missing first-choice goalkeeper.

"It was a very competitive game," he tells BBC Scotland.

"I thought we had long periods when we controlled the game and had multiple chances. St Johnstone are naturally a threat from set-pieces and crosses into the box.

"But I think today was all about us, I thought it was a tremendous performance and one I'd like to dedicate to Benji Siegrist, who unfortunately got injured yesterday."

  10. Reds' Woodburn heading to Heartspublished at 17:27 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

FT: Heart of Midlothian 1-1 Aberdeen

Robbie Neilson is asked about the potential signing of 21-year-old midfielder Ben Woodburn on loan from Liverpool.

"We are hoping to get him this week," he says. "It's now just a case of getting it done.

"You see to today we need more options. We certainly need to add."

  11. All day, it's a penalty - Neilsonpublished at 17:24 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    FT: Hearts 1-1 Aberdeen

Hearts manager Robbie Neilson tells BBC Sportsound is pleased with his side's start to the season but disagrees with opposite number Stephen Glass' assessment of the home side's penalty.

"For me, all day it's a penalty," he says. "There's contact, he doesn't play the ball.

"To go 1-0 up and lose a goal, there's a bit of disappointment there.

"Aberdeen put a high press on us second half. We switched off for the goal, but it was a fantastic ball in."

  12. Never a penalty - Glasspublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

FT: Heart of Midlothian 1-1 Aberdeen

Aberdeen manager Stephen Glass tells BBC Scotland that he disagrees with the penalty decision that led to Hearts' opening goal.

"It was the kind of penalty that was going to be given today because it's easy for players and referees to get caught up in the atmosphere," he says.

  13. Plenty of Tynecastle needlepublished at 17:14 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

FT: Heart of Midlothian 1-1 Aberdeen

Former Hearts midfielder on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

It was enjoyable game to watch and there was plenty of needle. A draw was probably a fair result, although Hearts don't make enough of their width

  14. Title race in prospectpublished at 17:11 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Billy Dodds
Former Scotland striker on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

It would be good to think it will stay tight at the top, but you know what's going to happen - that Rangers and Celtic with their squads will run away from the rest. But we are certainly hoping for a title race

Ex-St Johnstone defender on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

The battle for the top six doesn't really excite me, but I think some big sides will not make that. I don't think it will be easy to predict

  16. Both sides can take positivespublished at 17:05 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    FT: Ross County 2-4 Rangers

    Billy Dodds
Former Scotland striker on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

Malky Mackay will definitely take positives. Rangers blew them away at the start, but they scored and got right back in it. Steven Gerrard will be delighted with some of his team's play, although they switched off at times

  17. Great day for Unitedpublished at 16:59 British Summer Time 22 August 2021
