    New Dundee United signing Scott McMann says as soon as he knew the Tannadice club were interested in him, he was "excited by it".

    "It's a massive club with a great fanbase and great history," McMann says. "I just felt like it was the next step in my career.

    "When I spoke to the gaffer he laid out the ambitions for the club and the plans he had for me at the club.

    "I can't wait to play in front of the fans here when the stadium is full."

    Just as Celtic announce Ryan Christie's departure, they hit us with the news Benfica winger Jota has joined on a season-long loan with an option to buy.

    The 22-year-old has featured 18 times for Portugal’s Under-21s and is a product of Benfica’s youth academy.

    The winger spent the 2020-21 season on loan at La Liga side Real Valladolid, scoring twice in 18 games.

    Inverness-born Christie agrees a three-year deal at Bournemouth for an undisclosed fee.

    The English Championship side's chief executive Neill Blake believes the interest in the 26-year-old "speaks volumes".

    “He was being courted by a number of Premier League clubs," he says. "So it is a huge coup to have signed him.

    “Ryan enjoyed a hugely successful stay at Celtic and was instrumental in them winning a host of trophies.

    “He has already achieved a great deal in his career and is determined to achieve more.”
