    Fulham 0-0 West Brom

Fulham try to get the ball over the top toward Aleksandar Mitrovic but the ball sails through to Sam Johnstone.

The home side have a fine record, not lost in the 11 games against the Baggies and seem to have an air of confidence about them.

They're just working the ball through midfield and trying to expose West Brom, who are typically committed in turn.

Fulham having the best of the game so far, after a bright start.

Harry Wilson took a shot after a clever corner routine, but it was well blocked.

    Fulham 0-0 West Brom

Lots of threat down the left from West Brom who have pushed Conor Townsend forward in support.

Marek Rodak has to be alert to draw in a deflected shot from the edge of the box which looked to dip, looping under his crossbar.

Which front man will have the most impact – Aleksandar Mitrovic or Karlan Grant.

The physicality of Mitrovic has seen him plunder a barrow load of goals again this season, and officials seem to have let him get away with a lot of man-handling of defenders at set plays, by the way.

Whereas Grant is all about his ability to cut in off the left on his right foot – that’s been a rich source of success for him this season - and six in his last six appearances is testament to how much confidence is coursing through his veins at the moment.

The fact he finished first time from 25 yards, when clean through against Bristol City, rather than taking extra touches or trying to round the goalkeeper, further endorses that point.

  5. Postpublished at 2 mins

    Fulham 0-0 West Brom

First raid by West Brom sees Denis Odoi slip and Karlan Grant gets in out wide but the cross is dealt with by Fulham.

Early signs of intent from the Baggies.

  6. KICK-OFFpublished at 1 min

    Fulham 0-0 West Brom

Michael Salisbury is the referee for this one, and boy does he love a card.

Six games he's officiated this season have produced 17 bookings and THREE reds.

Be on your best behaviour today, lads.

Knees taken, everyone's ready. We're off.

With Remembrance Day on the horizon, teams are using their closest home game to pay tribute to those who have given their life for our freedom over the years, with a poppy wreath and minute's silence.

Fulham are no exception, and West Brom have brought their own tribute too. Solidarity.

West Brom head coach Valerien Ismael told BBC Radio WM:

"This is what you want, the expectation to have a top game all the time, and I think we're looking forward to the game. We have to play these top teams at some time.

"It's two different football philosophies, one is possession-based and the other out of possession but it's the same success for two teams if you see the stats."

Fulham boss Marco Silva told BBC Radio London:

"It is everything that you want, me as a manager and my staff, and our players as well. We are building and creating our own ideas as a football club.

"We want to put our stamp on every match and the main thing is the players have started to buy into that idea.

"The fans enjoy it and that's the main thing for us. The main thing is results but under that we want them to enjoy coming to support us."

  10. 'A contrast in styles'published at 12:25 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

Fulham v West Brom (12:30 BST)

    Rob Gurney
    BBC Radio WM Sport

One of the most mouth-watering fixtures of the Championship season so far, and one that both clubs hope will be a Premier League match-up again next season.

Valerien Ismael is looking forward to the passionate atmosphere generated by a raucous, vibrant Craven Cottage, and is banking on his players rising to the big occasion.

He acknowledges it’ll be a contrast in styles, between a possession-based Fulham and an out-of-possession Albion, whose high press could reap rewards if Marco Silva’s team insist on playing out from the back every time.

Albion’s previous two away games – at Stoke and Swansea – both finished in defeat, with similarly lacklustre performances.

Ismael is determined to avoid an unwanted hat-trick, and wants last weekend’s display to be the blueprint moving forward, after an, at times, fractious relationship with the fans about the brand of football he’s implementing.

  11. Baggies keen to finish October on a highpublished at 12:24 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

Fulham v West Brom (12:30 BST)

After a glorious unbeaten start through August and September, October was the first month in which results didn't quite go the way of Valerien Ismael following his summer appointment as West Bromwich Albion boss.

Ismael had arrived from Barnsley where he worked wonders with a relentless pressing system to deliver a play-off campaign last season, to kickstart the Baggies push for the Premier League.

Results have largely been good, with just two away defeats by Stoke and Swansea respectively halting their progress this month.

Avoiding a third straight loss on the road will be a tough ask, but in Karlan Grant they have a striker with six goals in as many games, and plenty of pace and skill within the squad.

  12. 'An acid test of Fulham's credentials'published at 12:22 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

Fulham v West Brom (12:30 BST)

    Andy Rowley
    BBC Radio London

Fulham fans are relishing going to games again after the fun went out of it somewhat last season in the Premier League. Back in the Championship they are the top scorers and come into today’s game off the back of a thrashing of form side Nottingham Forest at the City Ground last Sunday.

In Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic they have a forward who is a beast at this level and has already racked up 15 goals this season.

Manager Marco Silva told me West Brom are one of the main contenders for automatic promotion, so this could be an acid test of Fulham’s own credentials.

During my research for today’s game I was bowled over to discover that the Baggies haven’t won a league game here on the banks of the Thames since 1967. More than half a century!

  13. Buoyed after the breakpublished at 12:21 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

Fulham v West Brom (12:30 BST)

    Aleksandar MitrovicImage source, Getty Images

The international break can be a boon or a blow to teams during a season, and for Fulham, the evidence points to the former.

Marco Silva's side stuttered into the fortnight with a 4-1 away defeat by Coventry, having won just one of their previous four games beforehand.

However, on returning it appears the reset button has been pressed and three straight wins with 10 goals scored and just one conceded has been a welcome bonus.

Top scorers in the division with 33 goals, and with Aleksandar Mitrovic on 15 personally, Fulham certainly have the firepower to trouble Valerien Ismael's side.

Let's get straight onto business then, as two of the most-fancied sides for promotion meet in a bid to narrow the gap on leaders Bournemouth.

This was a Premier League fixture last season, and both are striving to make it one next year too.

Today is about teams at the top.

First up, it's second v third as Fulham welcome West Bromwich Albion to Craven Cottage where the skyline is slowly being changed by the new stand being built.

The 15:00 BST kick-offs follow in the Championship, as high-flyers Coventry go to a Hull side desperate for points for different reasons, while promotion hopefuls Stoke host Cardiff in their first game post Mick McCarthy's departure - and we've the big stories in Leagues One and Two .

We've got a little break then until 20:00 BST when leaders Bournemouth go to Reading for a game which stretching back a few years had become something of a 'derby', or at least a heated rivalry.

    That's your schedule.

I hope you've had your four wheat-based cereal products and have the isotonic energy drinks and gels handy.

    Today is a football marathon.

Starting in west London at lunchtime, and ridiculously finishing in Royal Berkshire as some sleepily head for bed - this is a test of endurance.

So get that liniment whacked on, we're in it for the long haul.
