Chelsea, last year's beaten Women's Champions League finalists, have their latest campaign spectacularly ended in the group stage by Wolfsburg.

Emma Hayes' side had started the night top of Group A, but finish third. Wolfsburg were third before the game and have ended up winning the group.

It's been a remarkable night in Wolfsburg, that's for sure.

They go into the quarter-final draw on Monday, with Arsenal being England's only representative in the last eight.

Chelsea players double over in despair, while Wolfsburg are celebrating wildly.

Erin Cuthbert's free-kick is easily dealt with and the referee blows the full-time whistle before the three-minutes of injury time have been played.

Chelsea have been sent crashing out of the Women's Champions League by an outstanding Wolfsburg.

Pernille Harder is trying to get away on the left for Chelsea, but is hacked down by Lena Oberdorf. The Wolfsburg midfielder is shown a yellow card and Chelsea have a free-kick on the edge of the area.

Three minutes of injury time will be added.

Wolfsburg will finish top of the group, and Chelsea's European campaign is about to end.

This corner is taken a bit quicker, but Chelsea defuse the danger. Last year's beaten Champions League finalists look like an exhausted side.

Wolfsburg are in no rush to take a corner with just three minutes of normal time left.

It's worked short and eventually Lena Oberdorf has a volley turned around the post by Zecira Musovic.

A nicely worked cross finds Aniek Nouwen just a few yards out, and she crashes her header against the post.

It's the closest Chelsea have come to scoring tonight. Time is quickly running out if they are to stage a late revival.

There is a hold up in a play as Chelsea goalkeeper Zercira Musovic is down calling for some attention.

She eventually gets up, and waves that she is okay.

Wolfsburg have created a few half chances in the past few minutes. The latest one sees Lena Lattwein link up with Tabea Wassmuth, who lashes an effort into the side netting.

A big chance falls for Melanie Leupolz in the area. The ball sits up nicely for the German to have a shot but she scuffs her effort and Almuth Schult simply needs to fall on it.

That goal has Wolfsburg topping the table! It's been an amazing hour for them.

They started the game third, with Chelsea top of the Group A. Now they are on the brink of winning the group and Chelsea are heading out.

As Chelsea go in search of a way back into the game, they are left wanting at the back.

Lena Lattwein almost punishes them as she finds space to wriggle free into on the left. She forces Zecira Musovic to make a save. In the end it wouldn't have counted as the flag was up for offside.
