It was the first time Steve Clarke had led Scotland in front of a capacity crowd and the head coach believes it was a big factor in securing Scott McTominay's goal.
"When the six minutes went up, a roar went up inside the stadium and gave us that extra bit of impetus and we managed to score a winning goal in that time," he tells BBC Scotland.
"Then, at the end of the game, our players wanted to thank the fans for being back in the stadium, creating that atmosphere and it was reciprocal with the supporters.
"They could congratulate this group of players, who I keep telling you show, every time they go on to the pitch how well they want to do for their county."

Scotland head coach Steve Clarke admits he let his usual measured manner drop for a few moments after what proved to the winning goal from Scott McTominay.
"I got that far and then thought, ‘what are you doing, get back in your technical area, too old for that'," he tells BBC Sportsound.
"Obviously a good time to score a goal, so it was nice to celebrate a little bit with the fans."

Scotland scorer Lyndon Dykes reveals he knew his goal would stand.
"I knew I didn’t hit his face," the striker tells Sky Sport. "Without VAR, it’s not a goal. I was happy to get us back in the game - it is a huge win.
"We’ve got a few games left and we have to just remain focused. We wanted a win tonight and we got it."

Steve Clarke stresses that Scotland cannot afford to think the job is done in their quest to finish second in Group F.
"We can enjoy ourselves tonight, but not too much," the head coach tells Sky Sport. "We will just dust ourselves down and go to the Faroes now.
"In terms of showing the character to concede twice and come back to win 3-2, it gives us more belief going forward.
"This group of players want to be successful for their country every time they’re on the pitch, but we can’t get carried away now."

Steve Clarke addressed Lyndon Dykes missed penalty and equaliser confirmed by VAR.
"Didn’t say too much to Lyndon at half-time," he tells Sky Sport. "He scored a big penalty for us in Austria.
"I said it was down to the other lads to make sure they made it a better night for Lyndon. I never doubt him or his character."
As for the striker's goal, he adds: "I was getting signals from the technical areas that it was clean contact, so I expected it to be given."

Scotland head coach Steve Clarke admits it was a bit too close for comfort.
"It was a strange night - not really like any other game we’ve paid against Israel," he tells Sky Sports.
"The whole complexion of the night changed in the first five minutes after they got their free-kick that we shouldn’t have conceded. It put us on the back foot, made it a long night and the game was too open from there.
"At half-time, it was really just about telling everyone to stay in the game and then making sure the game's fourth goal went to us.
"We left the goal a bit late for everyone’s blood pressure maybe though. 50,000 fans staying right to the death was amazing."

Scotland captain Andy Robertson is determined his side will not squander this big chance to make the World Cup play-offs.
"It is a big result for us," he tells Sky Sport. "We know how important it is, but it only counts if we use it correctly now.
"We gave away a stupid foul after our goal. It is so poor for us. Getting on level terms is about keeping it calm then pushing on again. We gave ourselves an uphill battle after conceding two.
"Some boys struggled in the first half, but in the second half, they showed big, big character."

Captain Andrew Robertson admits it was typical of Scotland to win it the hard way.
"Hard to sum it up just now," the left-back tells Sky Sports. "It’s not what we’ve built up under this manager. We knew we could pay a lot better at half-time.
"We’d rather win two or three nil and not have it be nervy, but that’s not Scotland is it? I grew up watching the national team, it’s never comfortable is it?"
As for Scott McTominay's winner from John McGinn's corner, he adds: "We said before the game during the week it is so important to get one good ball and McGinn provided."
